  1. You can't steal first. Getting on base is his issue.
  2. I am forced to agree that there is something wrong with the training regimen for this organization. Why are so many "kids" having so many issues with their muscles. You can overtrain and lose the way muscles are supposed to work while looking for power. Baseball is NOT football.
  3. If I had to have one Marlin up with a guy on third and one out, it might be Liam Hicks.
  4. Five things: 1. I'd like to see this team off to a decent start. This organization often does not do that. A record of .500 on May 31 would do it. 2. Joe Mack catching with Gus 2 days a week. 3. Health for the back end of the bullpen. Include Nardi and Josh White in this. 4. Stowers and Marsee doing what I hope they can do. 5. Clayton McCullough winning manager-of=the-year.
  5. The article presented the idea that the Marlins "competitive window" may be opening. I actually think that is true and am looking forward to how this year proceeds. I also think Paddock can give McCullaugh a "window" to sort out his pitching options.
  6. The guy is only 23 I think. Lots of improvement last year. Love his defense, very accurate arm (sort of an anti- Jorge Cantu). If his offense keeps improving, I can live with him. As an organization, it does seem to me that their coaches work well with bat-to-ball improvement. Go Fish!
  7. His surgery was so long ago that he was able to not push or be under pressure to return. That should allow for very well controlled rehab that is now done.
  8. If this guy can just not walk a lot of hitters and keep the ball in the park, I will be fine. I was really upset when they first traded him. Welcome back.
  9. This is a not exciting, but just fine signing. He is not going to win any awards , but will give them a chance to sort out their eventual rotation. No biggie but OK.
  10. This is my problem with the Weathers deal. I would bet that Ryan Weathers probably wins 12 or more games this year. I also would bet that all four of the guys we got will have O rbis in the major leagues this year. When are we going to start worrying about THIS YEAR. I am OK with the Cabrera deal because I feel we probably got major league ready talent in return. Fortunately for the Marlins, I simply love my baseball. I do not feel the entire fan base feels the same.
  11. I have to agree with most. OK with the Cabrera trade but Weathers said adios for this year. ENOUGH with the future, let's start enjoying the here and now!!
  12. Innings eating veterans are the road to mediocrity. I much prefer high upside young pitchers like Snelling and White. Speaking of pitchers returning from Tommy John, don't sleep on Dax Fulton. Another pitcher we seem to forget about is Andrew Nardi. The FO has a better idea of his rehab and signed him and kept him on the 40 man roster. This is the guy Schumacher brought in late with runners on base to get out of jams. He could be a real major +++. Go Fish!
  13. Good result: Owen Caissie becomes rookie of the year and Ed Cabrerra has Tommy John surgery (actually the second part is not necessary) Bad result: Owen Caissie becomes Lewis Brinson and Ed Cabrerra wins the Cy Young
  14. I have to take a little bit of a breath here, but I'm feeling that we are not done with Jacob Berry just yet. First base, third base, switch hitter. Some times it takes some time.
  15. Like the deal although I feel Dane definitely had pluses as a fourth outfielder. Bendix is a bat-to-ball contact guy, not a fat ass power guy. I like it.
  16. Max Meyer has closer written all over him. Throw the fastball, throw the slider and get out. One inning and done. Cheap lefty reliever for lefty batters...........Danny Coulombe still a free agent. However, I think Bendix does not want anyone who is a bit older. He doesn't want to block any of his young guys. I am not sure winning now is as important to him as it is to me, for instance.
  17. Fairbanks basically puts the Marlins back to square one with him taking the Henriquez role. Still need a lefty
  18. The Marlins starting pitching depth will be an interesting story to follow. Remember a baseball season is a journey, not a sprint.
  19. Three years ago the Cubs loved this guy. Biggest problem is swing and miss. Didn't like this when I first heard it, but am perhaps changing my mind. Still want a late innings lefty.
  20. last year Sherman said "we will spend money when it is indicated". Earth to Bruce..... "it is indicated".
  21. Frankly, I like Wagaman better. I assume the Marlins player evaluators see something that I don't. This guy is a strike out machine with occasional pop. Sounds like Eric.
