  1. Marlins sweep. Xavier Edwards is the MVP
  2. Faucher and Bender have been terrible. Eury probably needs a demotion to find his old self. Bring up Garrett, Kempner, and White. Give Petersen more chances in high-leverage situations. Send down Eury, Bender, and Faucher. I would love to call Ekness but he is not in the 40-man and I think it’s too early to give up on anyone on the roster. Snelling deserves his shot, but I think he has to get the call when a long-term situation arises (injury, DFA). Don’t call him for 2-3 starts and then send him back down. It’s still early. Hopefully the lineup gets better when Stowers joins the team.
  3. Risky take: Marlins win the series 3-1 and the MVP will be Graham Pauley
  4. Marlins 2-1 Series MVP: Heriberto Hernández
  5. Record: 81-81 Strength: The OF Weakness: 1B MVP: Marsee Cy Young: Eury Pérez Comeback player of the year: Conine Rookie of the Year: Caissie Most Improved Player: Pauley Biggest disappointment: Morel Bold statement: The Marlins trade Stowers to the Pirates at the deadline, netting Jared Jones plus others.
  6. I just checked that today: Johnston had a 1.027 OPS with one HR and seven 2B in 56 ABs. That's 50 points above the Marlins' best hitter (Heriberto). And first base is still a revolving door. What a joke.
  7. Well, I don't know what Heriberto's OPS+ was this Spring Training, but I know he had the highest OPS this Spring Training among Marlin players with 15 or more ABs, while leading in HRs with 3. Again, I just don't get it.
  8. As a fellow Colombian, I'd love to bring a paisano to the Marlins. @Ely Sussman would also have liked the move. Hitting Harold continued to rake during the WBC, and I'm sure he could have caught up with MLB pitching ... but that's wishful thinking with the current front office.
  9. Obviously, we don't know all the details, but you only had to play him for a month or so until Stowers is back, and you don't even have to play him there every day, probably days when facing LHPs. How many of those do you have in a month? 10 games? It makes soooo little sense. If the concern is more about being a useful player as a whole, WTF. 116 OPS+ last year in half a season. Crushed it even more this Spring Training. You can use the same argument I described above and EITHER bury him in the bench or the minors, OR give the guy his shot. He has more than earned it.
