  1. As long as the Fish take the series, no need to embarrassing them. Would be a nice touch, though.
  2. Out of 24 appearances, he has had only three "ugly" outings, all of them as a starter: May 12th vs KC: 2.1 IP - 7 ER June 22nd vs LAA: 6 IP - 5 ER July 25th vs ATH: 3.1 IP - 8 ER If you take those away, he'd be a 3.27 ERA guy... Not bad at all! Has all the Quantrill looks with many years of control!
  3. Yay! I think this was a good thing anyway. Provided, either Sandy or Eddy will be gone before the 2026 season starts. Do you think the Marlins are "losers" during this trade deadline? Check the current NL WC standings: East: NYM - Buyers Central: MIL - Bit of both West: LAD - Buyers ___________ WC1: CHC - Buyers WC2: PHI - Buyers WC3: SD - Buyers ___________ CIN: 3,5 GB - Buyers STL: 5,5 - Sellers SF: 6,0 GB - Sellers MIA: 7,0 GB - Kind of Sellers? ARI: 9,0 GB - Sellers I mean, two out of four teams in front of the WC standings were sellers, in a way, clearing the path for a potential contention. Historically, there is always one WC team that falls apart down the stretch (PHI or SD, maybe?) and one surging... And people have been noticing Marlins' baseball for some weeks now. The schedule is challenging in August (series vs NYY, HOU, BOS, TOR, NYM), but if this team manages to be at least .500 by the end of the month, things will be extremely fun. I hope the Hernández-Johnston-Marsee (I guess) tandem can pick up where Sánchez left.
  4. What if, just a wild thought, the Fish decides to be a buyer? For example, O’Hearn shouldn’t cost a whole lot… or Cedric Mullins… Or maybe go after a bullpen arm like Dennis Santana or David Bednar or Finnegan? Perhaps a 3B like Nolan Gorman or maybe even Brendan Donovan? I get that we should sell but if an opportunity arises to get a better player at a “low cost”, why not?
  5. In a somewhat similar trade to last year's Bender+Hoeing, sending now Bender & Faucher can give you a less-but-still-similar prospect package. I'll take Sanabria (Nr. 20 prospect), Francis Pena (#22), plus a throw-in, and call it a trade season. About Marsee... can he play CF so we can keep Sánchez? I see he has played more innings there than the OF corners, so why not give him a shot in that position?
  6. Locklear went to Arizona in the Eugenio Suárez trade. Still four players the Marlins can use,
  7. Here is my stance on the coming trade deadline: Do not trade Sandy, Eddy, and maybe not even Jesús. We gonna need them next year. Trade Bender, Faucher, and maybe Myers or Henriquez if overpaid. But more importantly, the Fish should try and get one of these 5 players: 1. Chad Stevens (LAA) 2. Wil Wilson (CLE) 3. Tyler Locklear (SEA) 4. Jace Jung (DET) 5. Cody Freeman OR Blaine Crim (TEX) Why? Those are 5 players who can play either 3B or 1B, do not have a clear path to their MLB team, and have nothing else to prove in AAA. Think about the Wagaman experiment 2.0. Jung and Locklear may demand good prospects in return. Two exciting days ahead! Hans.
  8. I wonder the same. This looks like the same ol’ Edwards-to-SS-Otto-to-2B situation. I get that Gus is pretty young and can get better, but also, halts his potential development as a dependable 1B. Give the guy some reps there and catch once or twice a week, max. I’m all in for waiting until mid August to bring Mack up, but DO IT.
  9. Bold move, but for sure a No-Go from Sherman's perspective (wallet). Take a look at these 5 players for a potential trade with the Fish: 1. Chad Stevens (LAA) 2. Tyler Locklear (SEA) - This one might be "expensive" 3. Blaine Crim (TEX) - Can be extra-cheap to get 4. Cody Freeman (TEX) 5. Wil Wilson (CLE) Either 3B or 1B who have nothing to prove in AAA and have no space/opportunities with their MLB teams. Except for Locklear, none of them are or have been a high-ranked prospect, which might come cheap on a trade, Do not hurt giving any of them a shot.
  10. I agree with many things here, except for the main one: DO NOT trade Sandy (Neither Eddy). Cabrera has never pitched more than 99 2/3 innings. Weathers and Garrett are injury-prone and will be on an innings limit. Eury just came back from TJ, so he is also limited this year and probably next year as well. We still don't know how Snelling and Mazur are going to pan out. White is looking more like 2027. In conclusion: You don't have an innings-eater except for Sandy, and $17M for him next year is not a whole lot. But I do agree with you in trading Bender, Faucher, and Fortes. Luckily, Bendix and his team have an eye for bullpen hidden gems. so they could fix the bullpen after those two are gone. The obvious candidate after Fortes is Mack. What they need to fix are 3B and 1B because of the reasons you gave above. De Los Santos is probably not the answer, as he strikes out a lot and doesn't have good pitch recognition. And Jacob Berry... he's not even a 3B anymore. As for CF, Marsee has played half his innings there in JAX, so why not give him the chance in Miami? What I am more afraid of is that Miami has to send $10M to the Yankees each year from 2026-2028 because of the Stanton trade... this CHEAP OWNER is going to use that as an excuse not to spend any money.
  11. I'd trade Bender and Faucher, just as last year they traded Hoeing and Scott. I understand it won't be the same return, but still important. My moves: 1. Bender & Faucher to NYM for Mauricio. OR the same two arms for Freeland (LAD) OR same two for Hao-Yu Lee (DET) OR same two for Stevens (LAA) 2. Fortes to SD or SF for any low-to-mid ranked prospect, whoever gives me the best return 3. Trade away Jeezy or Myers if the return involves a top prospect. Call-ups after the trades: 1. Soriano and Tarnok/Rooney. Henríquez takes over as closer, with Bachar and Simpson as SUs. 2. Joe Mack 3. Any from Marsee, DLS, Mesa Jr., or Troy Johnston... depending on who was traded. Call it a season.
  12. I also think the Marlins should not trade Sandy, nor Eddy. Here is my take: the team is a tad below average offensively, and with a few tweaks in the rotation and bullpen, there is a good chance this is a Wild Card contender as soon as next year... hell, even this year's contention is one or two bats away (3B and/or 1B), plus a bona fide closer. If they decide to wait until next year, then why not get one or two players via Free Agency? The Marlins have the lowest payroll in the MLB. You literally cannot get any cheaper. The farm system is not strong, but it's not that terrible either. That's why my take is to get prospects for all the veteran bullpen arms (Bender, Faucher, Bachar, Quantrill, if there is anyone interested...), and also Fortes... maybe Jeezy too, but I'd rather him to stay.
  13. And a propos on Starters signed by less than $5M: Even though Quantrill looks every bit of what they signed him for, he’s still the wrong Q, as Jose “Lelo” Quintana is having yet another great season 🙃
  14. Wow. An entire article about s***** free agents signed by the Marlins without naming the second-highest paid Marlin this season. That’s remarkable! Also, no love for Wags? I think he’s almost the same as Q: Not good but usable. The bar is actually extremely low.
  15. Moreover, I wonder if the analytics have been / can be applied to old footage from Marlins’ players and prospects, something as like “retroactive analytics” in order to understand what went right and wrong with previous players and prospects, including previous drafts, of course.
  16. I don't think it is a good idea to trade him at his lowest value. Keep working on the mental part and the pitching analytics, hoping for better results in the second half. Even more, if the team finishes the year on a high note (say, around 72-75 wins), I say they should keep him for next year. They would probably get better return by trading Weathers or even Meyer.
  17. #DontTradeEddy He still has 3 years under control, and I agree with Alex that IT LOOKS LIKE the Marlins can actually compete within 3 years, if so, we need him. As much as I like Thomas White, he does not have the potential Eddy still has, who I believe hasn't reached his peak yet! I think the ones gone by the trade deadline are Jesús Sánchez, Anthony Bender, Nick Fortes, and maybe Faucher. I don't think they'll get enough for Sandy, and no team will offer enough for Cabrera - at least what the FO thinks is worth him.
  18. I think you could perfectly include Calvin Faucher in that group. He had a rough start of the year, but apart from that 6-run outing vs the Cubs, he's been excellent. Also, has closing experience, which is appealing to other clubs. With three more years of club control, many teams can be interested in him, with a decent return. Even I had my doubts about Eddy Cabrera, but he has been solid since May. Now that Weathers is out for several months and Meyer is still on the shelf, I don't think it is a good idea to trade him. The rotation is looking better for the second half: Sandy-Eddy-Eury-Quantrill + I guess Junk or Bellozo should do it until Max comes back.
  19. Edwards at 2B and Lopez at SS? No s***. Who outta thought.
  20. Edwards Stowers Wagaman Sánchez Ramírez Mervis Norby Myers López
  21. 1. It's only been two games, but Gus' defense has not been horrific. You can ask Max Meyer. He has to improve, yes, but he has two games under his chest guard. 2. I think that question can be answered more quickly whenever Fortes comes back from the IL. Are they sending him back down? Or returning Hicks to the White Sox? Or optioning someone else (Pauley, Simon)? Kind of a good problem to have, and the Jumbo Shrimp has FOUR catchers on its roster... clearly, a 5th is not needed. 3. DLS: We all hope for the best from him, but so far this 2025, he has 28 K's in 90-ish ABs... No bueno.
