A young, relatively inexperienced team like the Miami Marlins has hardly any players on fully guaranteed contracts, which can make their roster overview confusing. This article simplifies the status of every player on Miami's 40-man roster.

You will find 45 players below because I've included members of the 60-day injured list. After the conclusion of the World Series, those players must be reinstated from the IL. This list will be updated at that time and there'll be subsequent updates throughout the 2026-27 offseason following any major league transactions.

All arbitration projections are courtesy of MLB Trade Rumors. Pre-arbitration players typically earn within a few thousand dollars of the MLB minimum salary, which was $780,000 for 2026.

Players have been listed in alphabetical order.

Maximo Acosta: Pre-arbitration

Sandy Alcantara: Club option for 2027 at $21 million ($2M buyout)

Anthony Bender: Fourth year of arbitration eligibility ($3.4M projection)

Zach Brzykcy: Pre-arbitration

Owen Caissie: Pre-arbitration

Qustion : We are not talking about former marlins in World Series? or the Rays in Woorld series?

It be a nice read.

I don't have any ill will toward ex-Marlins, of course, but never cared much once a player is on another team. It's interesting to me that many fans do care, even follow such players. Other than simple curiosity, it's not something I understand.

I think the Marlins are well positioned for the outcomes/requirements of the new CBA, whenever that occurs.

There will never be any mandatory minimum payroll ("floor") without the concomitant funding mechanism(s). The idea that the Marlins and other low-revenue teams will be required to spend money otherwise will never occur. The entire mechanism is broken now because teams simply do not have the revenue. Owners cannot and will not be required to fund teams without "outside" revenue.

There's discussions to increase the pre-arb minimum to $1.25MM.  Assuming Nardi, Kempner, and Zuber get the Tinoco treatment (put on AAA IL), and Mazur, Snelling, and Marsee start on the IL, I have our projected salary around $82MM.  I am also assuming the Arb numbers are accurate, Sandy's option is picked up, and Stanton $10MM.  If we don't get more rev sharing, I don't see us adding much.  If we get a floor of $170MM, then we get to spend $90MM.  I could see us using some of that to offer extensions (with level salaries).  Other than that, we need a righty C/1B, a lefty SP, a lefty RP (Fulton/Gibson upgrade), and a closer (Phillips?).  A righty Ruiz replacement (Derek Hill) might be in order too.  I like him but his last 6 weeks were brutal.  Lower on the list are a utility MIF guy or a 3B, moving Sanoja back to utility, I don't see Acosta or Serna being the answer.  Perhaps Matheus, but he needs more seasoning.

TB young players Liam Hicks and Victor Mesa Jr about to get paid that big World Series Bonus pool money win or lose. Last year 354k to the losers and 484k to the winners. 🏆

Who feels that we should have held on to these two or just one? I say VM Jr never got the time at the big leagues level that other young players in Miami got. He definitely shouldn't have been DFA'd for almost nothing in return from TB, a random player they sent us after picking him up for free. We signed him when he was only 18 and he played all those years since in our system. Someone else should have been DFA'd, Bendix and company now have to watch VMJ succeed in TB where their Mgr calls him their CF of the future. Hicks was such a good find for us in the Rule 5 draft, he should have been held on to permanently. Clutch hitter who showed much improvement in his 2nd year plus he never had to play above AA in the minors. Says alot when TB is starting the both of them for the most part in the playoffs and World Series and we dumped them. SMH wondering how this happened and what Miami plans on doing in the future when all these prospects they traded for start becoming ready to join the show. Are we going to lose alot more young productive players under team control and just become a farm system for the other major league clubs?  🤔
