  1. Why not extend Bachar to five innings? If he's game, it's a nice card to hold for situations like the Marlins now face. Also, Garrett should be back any day now.
  2. The basic strategy is obviously to run up the pitch count, and an early run or two greatly achieves that goal against a premier pitcher. Failure to cash in against Wheeler in the first inning portended the loss.
  3. I thought Skenes was already in the Hall of Fame.
  4. Marlins sweep the series with Owen Caissie taking the series MVP.
  5. Let the guy play and see what happens. What, he's the difference in making the playoffs? Of course not.
  6. I figure both Alcántara and Fairbanks will go in July, and that is probably best for long-term business both on the field and for team finances. With the option year, the team that trades for El Caballo will have an excellent price point, even if there is no extension. If we figure the Marlins near 70 wins as configured, keeping these two is hard to justify. As hard as the public relations hit will be, I don't believe the team has any compunction in making the move(s). The remodeled team is on track, the minor leagues are rejuvenated, and we are optimistic that the new CBA will create a more equitable ecosystem in baseball. Perhaps that is Pollyannish thinking, but we have no choice. The TV revenue situation has exacerbated matters to the point that all these moves are necessary and has created a high probability that on-field play will not occur in 2027 or will be significantly truncated. Howling about individual issues is a fan's prerogative, but the systemic issues cannot be delayed any longer. We are fast approaching the proverbial chickens coming home to roost between MLB and the MLBPA.
  7. The "strong up the middle" quest is, hopefully, solved. Marsee, relax, and get on track, brother! The competitive window is ajar and you can throw it wide open. You're a huge key to the team's success right freaking now.
  8. Fresh reinforcement exactly where and when we need it. Regarding pitching, Whatever happens with Paddock's role, if any, Garrett and Snelling are on deck. I'm not worried, barring multiple injuries to starters. Frankly, Eury is more of a concern to me right now.
  9. Most important item on the plate right now is stomping the Phillies while they're down. This is an opportunity to put as much distance as possible on the books.
  10. Eddie Murphy's character in "Trading Places" Billy Ray Valentine: "I have legs!" Yes, Clayton, Max can pitch seven innings! Please reconsider this five inning robotic starter removal that requires four innings and five relief pitchers every game. Thank you.
  11. McCullough pulls every starter like a robot, then flies in the face of obviousness with the bullpen. Quite interesting as it is puzzling. Perhaps his title should be Master Concierge and simply defer to an AI program for all in-game decisions. Lol.
  12. I enjoyed the feisty banter during the live show on this topic.
  13. I wish I was excited or even hopeful upon the arrival of Morel. Regardless of production yet to come, I won't be a fan of a guy that I watched dance and gyrate around the bases after hitting a home run in Spring Training a few years ago. Bad taste. Sorry.
  14. True, but Devers is Posey's, and that's a millstone in the making. It's amazing how easy it is to saddle a team's future for middling results.
  15. Giant favorite Buster Posey has maneuvered the team into the worst of all positions. The team has a $200m+ payroll with nearly $500m in long-term commitments. Ugh. It is tepid, top heavy, and most importantly, uncompetitive. Compare to the lithe, young, and aggressive Marlins. Maybe Giants fans can be placated by a few splash homers at Oracle. Of course, Giants ownership could give Posey another $100m to flush because he was a great player. Such odd thinking.
  16. Marlins sweep, with Owen Caissie going wild by the Bay.
  17. Fingers crossed he's anywhere near the Iglesias or Giménez.
  18. Don't throttle the aggressiveness. Ruiz will add another component to things, as well.
