Marlins make home run history, sweep A's in Sacramento

It certainly would. That kind of move isn't beyond Bendix. I think he will try to showcase the possible trade pieces, especially Garrett.- 10 replies

What are your Marlins vs. Athletics series predictions?

I agree with Robert Hanson exactly: 2-1 A's and Big Amish as the big dog. As always, I hope I'm wrong Happy Independence Weekend to everyone. -
The entire game was like chewing a tough steak. It was baseball (sustenance), but quite unsatisfactory. Considering the first two games of the series (the salad and appetizer, to continue the metaphor) were so delicious. Still, there's always dinner tonight that can displace the bad experience.

I realize the misses are by inches and even tenths of inches, but the close pitches are the key to calling a game. If we ask AI to remove swinging strikes, check swing calls, foul balls, and the obvious balls or strikes, we're down to something like 20 percent. It's like the proverbial election swing states. That's where games are shaped. So, it's not 250 pitches a game that require attention, but more like 40-50. But there's only two challenges per team? As I mentioned, taking the whole thing away would be fine. However, we know there is no regression now. So, why are we acting as if this flawed hybrid is still great? Cheers.

Couple of thoughts. The Sanoja error was a rough decision by the OS, but certainly Meyer will take the unearned runs. The inside-the-parker was simply awesome! We got us a long-term backstop, y'all. I didn't look at the umpire scoring. Didn't have to. I saw a dozen pitches that impacted the count/outcome. The ABS is horsesh*t. I watch lots of games. Announcers, especially firmer players, continuously note how counts impact everything. We have the answer in place, yet allow dozens inaccurate calls every single game. With 53-54% of challenges overturned, in presumably the most important situations, we already see trouble. I personally am fine with the human umpires - no ABS would be fine. But it's here, abd will not be rescinded, yet its limitations are on display every game. Must admit I like the decision to keep three catchers on the roster right now. I watched the Shrimp before the Marlins game. Norby might be back soon anyway. Pauley's demotion is unfortunate because his stroke looked much better. Speaking of Jax, Garrett had an excellent outing last night. Ninety pitches, three hits, no runs over eight. ERA is 1.55. We certainly will see a disposition of his status very soon. Call up or trade piece himself. Lastly, gliding into the ASG with high-forties in wins must be considered extraordinary. Just 30 days age, the situation was looking bleak.

What are your Marlins vs. Rockies series predictions?
THOMAS JOSEPH replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Rockies 3-1. Goodman as MVP. -
Good times now. Still not sure, despite the obvious current success, of the quick hook on Gusto after 3.1 innings. Bachar is standing out in a bullpen providing yeoman work. I cringed at the Lopez misstep. His lineup absence hurts, but putting Jiménez in today is understandable. Out of all the talking points this team is producing, to the eye test, Conine's swing greatly encourages me. Balls are scalded. Please the baseball gods he stays healthy, and his slugging production just might be the Marlins version of the arrival of the cavalry. Moreover, we have Hicks and Junk both in the wings. We hate to see this month end!

Excellent hard contact from Pauley, even on his outs, and he's hustling. The Jax reset looks to have recharged him at just the right time to address the Marlins' most immediate positional need.

Sandy Alcantara etches his name in Marlins history
THOMAS JOSEPH replied to Isaac Azout's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Let's punch the league and all the parrot commentators right in the kisser by keeping Alcántara. Fairbanks could be another stone waste, but before we relegate him to Robertson status, let's see how it goes over next three weeks or so. No reason to be impulsive, either concerning the on-field situation or the ever-present financial status of the team. The Marlins have prepared for the Stanton residual payments, band will be fine with the other sunk contractual obligations this year. They are well-placed heading into the CBA to move in any direction they want or that the new terms open up. Consider the very legitimate damage that a lost or severely truncated 2027 season causes teams with high-dollar, long-term player deals. A lost prime year is devastating to the overall contract assessment and, of course, the probability of decent on-field production. Bendix has aligned things to give the Marlins top flexibility once things are settled, or to weather the process if it goes south after the lockout/contract expiration (which I wager that it surely will). Keep Alcántara this year. No pressing issue and no need to disrupt a fine team chemistry. -

Cards win 2 at home. MVP - Burleson. -
I don't understand why Garrett isn't recalled. Perhaps there are deal discussions in the works. Stowers and Marsee, to my mind, are the keys to success the dog days. Lastly, I suppose such discussions are obligatory, but I laughed outloud at the Chapman reference.
