Former 1st Rd Pick Noble Meyer Lost To TJ Surgery
-
Noble Meyer, Robby Snelling, Thomas White (awaiting surgery?) Andrew Nardi, Max Meyer, Ronnie Henriquez, Anthony Bender, Eury Perez, Sandy Alcantara, Braxton Garrett, Sixto Sanchez, Jose Fernandez. *Honorable Mention Edward Cabrera-No surgery but months on the IL in numerous years battling most likely partial tears. Here's some I remember falling under the knife and losing 1+ years due to surgery. Do you remember any others? Is this just a coincidence or is the Marlins Organization doing something extremely wrong in the beginning stages of training their young pitchers? Are they responsible for all this young talent falling by the wayside, many even before reaching the big leagues. Weighted balls are very controversial, might this be the simple reason along with spinning the ball on almost all the pitches? What's your take on this?
-
21 year old 2023 1st Rd Pick Noble Meyer has undergone TJ Surgery in late August and will be lost for all of 2027. He was on the IL for a shoulder strain since the end of Spring Training, where he wasn't even given an invite after a lost 2025 being injured and not producing in Single A. The last of the Jeter Picks at 10th overall, his velocity dropped big-time to the low 90's in 2025 indicating something might be internally wrong. My guess is possibly a future reliever here but not gonna live up to his previous hype as a Frontline Starting Pitcher. What's your opinion on what seems to be another Jeter misfire?

All of those above names plus others didn't need 3+ years to develop in the minors. I remember the Fish losing 2 starting pitchers just before opening day one year and bringing up a young kid named Jose Fernandez from Double-A to fill one of those spots and he never looked back! Marcella Ozuna was another who skipped AAA and was promoted from AA where he was tearing it up. He continued to tear it up in the big leagues and was never demoted. Harper and Soto both at age 19 were showing they belonged in the show, we might have one here in Santiago Solarte! Keep your eyes 👀 on this kid.

Fish bounce back once again and sweep Nats 3-0 riding on MVP Conine's shoulders! -
I think we should rush this young phenom to the majors by let's say 19 years old just like Soto, Harper, Acuna, Elly De La Cruz and O'Neil Cruz were fast tracked. This is a kid playing amongst men but he is different than the rest of his peers at his level, just like the above mentioned stars were! 🌟 I liked this signing from the get go after reading about this kids skillset and huge upside and his domination in the Dom Rep Summer League only gets me more excited for his future promotion to the show!

Hicks bat is being replaced by Joe Mack, Gus Ramirez and Griffin Conine along with Mack's great defense. We look fine going forward as these 3 are all in the line-up now raking balls everywhere while contributing to some important wins for us. Hicks had the same troubles as Gus had in not being able to throw out runners at the league average or above it plus he was slow of foot on the bases. Loved seeing his improvement at the plate but Mack beat him out at catcher and he got caught in the numbers game shortly after.

Agustin Ramirez leads power surge in win
Rob V replied to Alex Krutchik's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
So happy to see Gus finally called up and driving the bus again! Agree playing catcher was very hard for him and just happy to have his dangerous bat in the line-up again at DH or 1B where he did play at for the Yankees Farm System about 20 times they say. He's definitely put that early slump behind him and ready to rock and roll like Heriberto has since his recall much earlier. Look at Bert now, carrying us along with Conine. Love seeing the improvement these guys are showing! -

"Marlins All-Star right-hander Max Meyer underwent a cortisone shot in his side/rib area, according to manager Clayton McCullough". Should we ship out Max for a bucket of top prospects in the off-season and just be done waiting for him to stay healthy for a season? Or should we keep Max and just be happy he's still under team control whenever we get him back healthy from his frequent IL stays? My opinion on this is trade him and move on just like what happened with another 1st Rd Draftpick of ours, Braxton Garrett, who seemingly didn't recover fully from TJ surgery and was not the same pitcher anymore. To me, Max just appears to be too fragile to stay healthy and play a 162 game season. Sell high based on his outstanding numbers he put up in 2026 before his latest injury setback. What are your thoughts on Max Meyer going forward with the Fish?

Fact is that Esteury Ruiz in place of Marcy gives us better offensive stats in CF. He deserves the chance Marcy got the rest of the way in the 2nd half. Amazing that Marcy has not been sent down at any time this season to work on his hitting. Ramirez, Norby and Pauley all have had to go down after faltering at the plate time after time and Morel was DFA'd. First off, Marcy had a terrible WBC and batted leadoff for Italy but still didn't produce for them batting under the mendoza line for the entire tournament. Marcy also was last offensesively amongst starting CF's at the break. WTF happened?

Marlins extend season-long losing streak to seven games
Rob V replied to Kevin Barral's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
I guess I got a little emotional seeing Max hit the IL once more. His career has been like watching a 40 something year old Verlander or Scherzer spend more time on the IL than the Diamond. You know if he stays healthy he's a good productive SP so it's frustrating. We should have held on to Jesus Lazardo and given him a team friendly contract to take over the mantle from Sandy. Luzardo is an Ace now and we had him! No one we got in that trade will beat the 15+ wins a year he's giving the Phillies.
