Normally when a player is DFAd and traded, the team gets like a DSL reliever or a couple of dollars.
Kade Bragg may never pitch in the big leagues, but as a Twins prospect guy, I can't believe the Twins gave up that much for a DFAd guy. Bragg is left-handed, throws fairly hard, strong slider. Certainly a reliever, but he was good at High A and Double A in 2025. Could he be ready later in the 2026 season? Maybe.

Corbin Day is really good, and while the Twins have been up and down over the past five years, they continue to have coaches and coordinators poached from their system. Derek Shomon came from the Twins. He was a scapegoat after the 2024 season. The other Twins hitting coach fired was David Popkins, who was signed a few days later to be the Blue Jays hitting coach. The Marlins grabbed Tyler Smarslok from the Twins a last offseason. Shomon is now the White Sox lead hitting coach which was announced when they announced that their new pitching coach will be Zach Bove, who was poached from the Twins by the Royals.
Obviously, we'll see how it goes, and who knows how much of a role that any "assistant" hitting coach has, but Day is a nice hire.

I guess being their early-season ace wasn't enough to keep him from being optioned, eh?

What have the reports been this spring on Eury? Will he be on an innings limit again in 2024?

Pablo Lopez's deal with the Twins is very similar too.
In my opinion, Luzardo should absolutely take that deal if it were offered to him. Personally, I think it's more of a question of if Miami should offer him that much.
And ultimately the fact that it's questionable for both sides, it might mean it is absolutely the right range for what they could agree upon.

I wouldn't expect much from him at shortstop. He might make Luis Arraez look like a good second baseman. But he can't be worse than last year, I don't think...

How many more Salas brothers are there?
Ethan had quite the debut.
Jose was just awful in 2023 for the Cedar Rapids Kernels (High-A) but obviously still has a ton of talent.

Holy wow!
That would be the definition of a blockbuster deal!! Initial thought is that the Marlins would say no... but it's probably not that far off.
Alcantara is under team control through 2026 with an option for 2027, but the risk is returning from surgery as a Cy Young caliber pitcher whenever he does come back.
Luzardo has three more years of arbitration remaining, so he would be under team control through the 2027 season.
Max Meyer, who is only 24 still, will likely not be a free agent until at least after the 2028 season. Pre-TJ surgery, he was globally a top 50-60 guy.
Brooks Lee is ready or will be very shortly. Jenkins is likely at least 2 years away from contributing.
So, looking at team control, the Twins would be getting 12 years of three high-ceiling pitchers, and the Marlins would be getting 6-7 years of Lee and 6-7 MLB years of Jenkins whenever that clock starts.
No, that's not enough for the Marlins... But that's the only way that the Twins would deal both of those guys.

That stinks for any pitcher, but I always think it's more unfortunate for the younger guys who haven't made any money yet. Whether a 5th starter or a long reliever, his upside probably isn't that of Ace, but it all adds up.
Had he been optioned yet? Hopefully he gets a full year of service time and league minimum salary!
