Back with Marlins, Chris Paddack looking to reset
Jose Herrera replied to Alex Carver's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Griffin Canning's reset with the Mets went well last season when they signed him to a 1 year 4 million dollar contract. Paddack is close to the same age as Canning and has similar career statistics. This season we need Paddack establish himself as a solid #3 or 4 starting pitcher like Canning did. -

Miami Marlins FanFest was a hit. Here's what happened
Jose Herrera replied to Kevin Barral's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
If the Little Machine hits 30 home runs and drives in 100 this season, we should consider extending his contract.- 1 reply

2026 Marlins ticket promotions, giveaways, special events
Jose Herrera replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
This reminds me of how and when I became a Miami fan. I was on spring break with my family, and we were driving all over Florida for a week. My dad is a Mets fan and on 4/2/2011 we decided to drive to Miami to watch the Mets vs Marlins which was the second game of the season. The Mets had high expectations at the time because they had Bay, Beltran, Davis, K-rod, Reyes, Wright, and new manager Terry Collins. I remember watching the game and immediately thinking wow when I saw Ramirez effortlessly slice an opposite field double off Niese in the first inning. It was a great game, Bonifácio was a menace hitting and played 3 different positions throughout the game and Niese and Nolasco both pitched 7 innings, each giving up 2 earned runs. Later in the game Dobbs tied the game with two outs in the bottom on the 9th with a pinch hit single against K-rod. The Marlins would go on to lose 6-4 in the 10th, but their talent and tenacity stood out. After the game the Marlins held an awesome Pitbull concert, which was right at around the time he became Mr. Worldwide and made hit after hit. Between the concert, game, going swimming at North Beach, and seeing all the Bosh, Haslam, James and Wade jerseys I began cheering for Miami. Attached is the 4/2/2011 game recap: -
Happy Friday everyone, hope you all are well🥳. I would like Berry, Johnson, McKendry, Pintar, Ralston and Snelling to all be able to have a chance.

Why the Marlins should not trade for Nick Castellanos
Jose Herrera replied to Kevin Barral's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
If we had never signed Castellanos or Garcia prior to 2022, we would have been fine and saved some money. Probably would have won around the same number of games with Bleday, De La Cruz, Dickerson and Sanchez all in the outfield. However, that was a different time and I'm happy with new front office. Jeter had great ideas, but they were not practical in Miami. Ligero and Loria were right to be upset with Jeter and his Yankee bro-science philosophy. Heck I'm even upset when I look back. Jeter traded Ozuna, Realmuto, Stanton, Yelich and removed the fish tanks behind home plate, the home run sculpture and the lime green walls. That was so much money and time wasted on removing fun and useful amenities and players only to replace them with subpar replacements. Ideally, we should still have some of those amenities and players. In the end Sherman learned his lesson about hiring someone with no front office experience and we all paid the price. At least those days are over with and things are looking up. Bring Castellanos if Philly pays for his contract and if we can trade him the following week, like we did with Piazza. Go Fish! -
Marlins acquire Bradley Blalock from Rockies
Jose Herrera replied to Nate Karzmer's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Brooks is a solid prospect, I would have added Bellozo to the 40 man roster or kept Bido.- 5 replies

The Marlins have created an outfield logjam
Jose Herrera replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Throughout the season I think Ruiz will backup or be splitting time with Marsee in center field. Same applies to Caissie and Morel in right field. Stowers will be our full time left fielder. As for DH it all depends on how certain players perform. Early this season I expect Conine to get all the at bats against right handed pitchers and Hernandez the at bats against left handed pitchers. I’m excited to see what Conine will do with the majority of the at bats.- 2 replies

Projecting Jakob Marsee's 2026 season

As long as he hits strikes hard he will be fine. His bat speed will improve and plus he can stretch out hits. -
Marlins claim pitcher Osvaldo Bido off waivers
Jose Herrera replied to Kevin Barral's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
@Hans Herrera 👋Mr. Bido, would you by any chance by the 2017/2018 José Ureña? -
Great article @Kevin Barral, thank you for including videos of them. Happy with all the players we signed. Acosta reminds me of Felnin Celesten, Del Campo of Vinny Castilla and Peralta of Edison Volquez. Super excited to see them all develop.
