  1. Neither are Rule 5 eligible this year. That's why it's important to get Alderman some ABs in September. Which is why calling Graham Pauley up when they did was even more headscratching. They can't risk Alderman to Rule 5 and hope a Troy Johnston situation happens again where every team stupidly slept on him.
  2. At this point, the rest of the games should be played as auditions for next year. If Stowers is still hurt, shut him down for the year and bring up Alderman so we don't lose him to Rule 5.
  3. Starlyn Caba is 1 year away from being Rule 5 eligible. If he doesn't show any semblance of tangible progress next year, then the Jesus Luzardo trade will be up there with Yelich, Realmuto, and Miggy as the worst trades in Marlins history.
  4. You have to wonder if the league is seeing something that the Marlins coaching and Eury/Sandy is not, because my goodness, they both been shelled three games in a row and neither of them are adjusting. None of the games they've pitched even resembles watchable.
  5. Otto Lopez needs to happen. His market value is probably back where it was before this season due to his awful second half. This is a good opportunity to sign him long-term.
  6. The Marlins get swept by the Mets. Lindor MVP. At this point, I'm just convinced the Marlins are actively trying to lose every single remaining game this season. Even if Sandy pitches well (as he usually does against the Mets), the Marlins will find some way to lose that game. EDIT: Case. In. Point. Keep proving me right, Marlins.
  7. If Stowers gets on the IL, I would assume it's for the remainder of the season. At that point, don't be a wuss. Promote Kemp Alderman. He plays literally the same exact positions Kyle Stowers plays. You lose nothing, defensive versatility-wise.
  8. Leo Jimenez played in 66 games? That is bare minimum 56 games too many. If he's not offering defensive value, what is he even here for?
  9. Jacob Lombard is a bit concerning. I was expecting swing-and-miss in his game, but a strikeout rate near 40% at Low-A is alarming. That is downright Monte Harrison levels of swing-through-balls. I won't hold it too harshly against him as he's getting his feet wet in his first action of professional ball, but I have some concerns about his future in higher-level competition.
  10. If they didn't trade Ryan Weathers, they wouldn't be having this problem. One of the aformentioned right handers you mentioned (like Tyler Phillips) would be in the bullpen, and the bullpen wouldn't be gassed. But believe me, starting pitching is the least of their problems. Their offense has fallen off a cliff. HARD.
  11. Pitchers are throwing harder than ever these past few years. The Marlins aren't the only team dealing with a graveyard of injuries. Look at the Chicago Cubs.
  12. Another terrible first round draft pick by D.J. Svihlik for a guy with an illustrous history full of terrible first round draft picks. I hope the Marlins just cut bait and release Noble Meyer and have someone else deal with the headache, just so we can close the book on DJ Svihlik so we can stop actively talking about him. I'm not exactly thrilled with Frank Pilliere's pick of PJ Morlando but I'm hoping his picks end up better.
  13. Suarez wouldn't have helped. As it is now, not a single player on our team is OPSing over .790. That's alarming for a pitching staff that needs as many runs as it can get due to not enough starting depth. The fall-off of Otto Lopez especially deserves a case study. How does a player go from batting .334 with 9 home runs and OPSing .873 in the first half, to a a guy batting .236 with 0 home runs and OPSing .565 in the second half? I knew there'd be regression to the mean, but not to this extreme.
  14. If Cade Gibson can't get a guy who's OPSing in the low .600s out with platoon advantage, then he should just be relegated to only low-leverage relief, if not DFA'd. I'd sooner trust a right-hander with bad splits against lefties than Cade Gibson against lefties.
  15. Couldn't agree more. I always found Starlyn Caba to be an insanely overrated prospect from the moment the trade was made, and his production since the trade has done nothing to change my mind. I knew his patient approach at the plate in the upper levels of the minors wasn't going to be sustainable, and that Caba was going to fall flat the moment the upper minors pitching were going to start pitching to him, forcing Caba to swing at strikes. This cold streak has done nothing but validate my skepticism. The Marlins should've sold high on Caba's strong first half and traded him to bolster 3B, 1B, or a lefty starting pitcher. They didn't. Now they're heading into the Boston series having to do a bullpen game with an ineffective bullpen, and playing musical chairs at 1B, meanwhile STILL not having an answer at 3B. As it is, Starlyn Caba is now up there with Jacob Berry on my personal Mount Rushmore of overrated Marlins prospects.
  16. Boston wins 2 out of 3. MVP is Rafaela. The Marlins lack starting pitching, and that will hurt them here. Game 1 is the only game where I can confidently say they can win. The rest are dubious at best.
  17. I'm not going to rule out the possibility that Solarte can tear up A+ and then AA before reaching the majors before 20, but those names you listed were mostly generational freaks of nature. Unless Solarte proves he can crush A+ and AA by 18, cautious optimism must be applied.
  18. The Marlins really just gave up on the 2026 season, haven't they? Yes, I know John King's struggles post-all star break are well-documented, but he had a phenominal pre-all star split, and has had about a half-decade of pedigree. At some point he's going to find his rhythm again. And, even if he doesn't, it's not like their left-handers from AAA are that much better. Your LOIGY go-to guy is literally an over-5 ERA Cade Gibson. That's not going to cut it.
  19. They must have absolutely no faith in De Los Santos, because what they're doing to him is harmfully damaging his development.
  20. The last time the Marlins were aggressive on developing a teenager, it turned into the disaster-class that is Andrew Salas. Now, I'm not saying that Solarte will go down the Andrew Salas path, but caution must be considered when it comes to rushing young talent as being too aggressive with promoting them can damage their confidence. We've seen it play out with Andrew Salas all season long in 2025, and he was inexplicably never demoted at any point. It took until halfway through 2026 until the Marlins realized their mistake.
  21. That blown call stinks. But Shane Livensparger wasn't the guy that let Leo Jimenez clog up a roster spot that De Los Santos, or even a slumping Kemp Alderman, would've made better use of. I feel more confident with those two players at the plate than Leo Jimenez. Shane Livensparger also wasn't walking the farm like Victor Vodnik. Shane Livensparger also wasn't refusing to stop the bleeding like Victor Vodnik and Cade Gibson. Shane Livensparger also wasn't going 3-for-13 with Runners in Scoring position. Shane Livensparger also isn't the manager in the dugout who continues to give a guy with less than .600 OPS (Leo Jimenez) continue to get meaningful ABs with the game on the line. You can point the blame at Shane Livensparger all you want. But there's plenty of blame to go around, and I don't think Shane Livensparger is one of them.
  22. You say he chose a bad time to slump, but I'd rather have him at the plate with 2 runners in scoring position and 2 outs, down a run, against Philly, than Leo Jimenez.
  23. I'm just shocked. We had Kemp Alderman literally start games at 1B at AAA. We had an easy move to put Kemp on the 40-man roster: Just transfer William Kempner to the 60-day IL. Kempner's not returning this season. Hell, Alderman doesn't even need to always be at 1B. He could switch places with Conine here and there. But bringing Pauley up, despite there being several better upgrades, reinforces the one thing I was deathly afraid of: This organization is content with mediocrity.
  24. I concur. They had the easy move of sending William Kempner to the 60-day IL. He's not returning anytime soon, and it's not like the Marlins will be in the playoff hunt come September. Might as well get Alderman's hacks in.
