Video: This Marlins team deserves better fan turnout
Leo Armbrister replied to AJ Ramos's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
The Marlins fans should come out and support the team. However here are some of the reasons fans are not as supportive as they shoud. The Marlins low payroll and the management decision not to sign any free agents to a multi year contract doesn't give the fans the feeling that we will be a winner over the course. I personally don't be lieve that but the fans dun't see markee players on this roster. I hope the new barganing agreement will force the Marlins to spend more on players. That plus winning will get the fans behinf the team. -
Somehow, the Marlins are not completely out of it yet
Leo Armbrister replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
The Marlins have exceeded my expectations so getting into the playoffs would be an unexpected bonus. My hope is that the Marlins continue to play well as a group. This season has seen some quality players get promoted to the majors. During Spring Training we need to find the best players to promote to the majors. -
I was a fan that never wanted the Marlins to trade Sandy. He is a quality pitcher who has a contract for a couple of years. I was especially concerned after we traded Luzardo that our starting pitching would not hold up. Well we are scraping the bottom of the barrell for starting pitching and having Sandy is a great assett to this team. So my hat is off to Sandy to get his form back and I wish him much success.

While the losses to the Nats have been disappointing they have exceeded my wildest expectations for the year. I thought they would lose over 100 games. Also they have some good young players. Our pitching staff has been decimated. Hopefully we can get some of those pitchers healthy for next year. So I am optimistic for 2026. I believe we can continue to get better.

The Marlins have exceeded my expectations for this year but the last two games confirms that this is a young team with a lot of growing to do.

Tonights loss shows how important it is to try your best when you get a good start like Sandy had on Friday night. You don't get cute and bring in a rookie and hope they pitch their best game against a good hitting team like the Red Soxs. Quantrill had nothing last night and the Marlins were never in that game.

McCoullough needs to make decisions that gives the Marlins to win games. In three games in the last week he has broughr in relievers who have made it impossible for the Marlins to win winnable games. I know you have to use all of your players if they are on the roster but winning games is the first priority.

I know a lot of so called smart baseball people say that the Marlins should trade Sandy. Well I strongly disagree. He is healthy after his surgery and he is under contract. Starting pitching is not easy to get so why would we give up a proven starter for some unproven prospects. Lets keep him and his leadership to help the Marlins pitching get better.
-
The Marlins should consider putting Sandy on the injured list and work on several things. He has to get better at holding base runners. He also needs to work on his command of the strike zone. To many of his balls are not close to the strike zone and his strikes are in the middle of the zone and very hittable. He should have a few rehab assignments. His velocity is good which is positive. I think he can turn it around. To trade him right now would be a mistake and hurt the franchise. His value is down and he is healthy. his mechanical problems can be fixed.

As a fan who has been critical of the Marlins strategy of spending on quality players I must admit that I am beginning to see the results of trying young players in the majors. These young players are exceeding my expectation for performance. Soon we need to decide which players have a future with the Marlins and sign those players. As far as Connor Norby I believe he will be a quality player, but he needs to go down and work on his game.

What is wrong with Bender. He has given up home runs in at least two games recently. We need him to be better.

None of the 2025 Marlins have a convincing All-Star case
Leo Armbrister replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
The article is correct. No Marlin is worthy of All Star selection. I usually vote for any marginally qualified Marlin but none are truly worthy in my view. That is not to say that there are no good players on this team but we have a team made up of mainly complementary players. With the team management swapping mediocre players for mediocre prospects. Here we are. I would not buy a jersey with the name of a Marlin player on the back. That tells you the state of this franchise.- 2 replies

I don't know or care if the Marlins feed their players subway or steak on the road. However this management team is not willing to spend a dime on players to improve this team. When a player shows some promise this team is shopping that player as trade bait. How are you ever going to build a winning team when you trade away all of your best players. It is hard to be a Marlins fanwith this ownership group tearing down the team when they see a glimmer of progress.

I think trading Luzardo was a mistake. We will see if this unproven prospect makes it but good starting pitching is hard to find, The last several ballgames have proven that. Even Sandy hasn't performed as well as we hope he will and this team is thinking about getting rid of him.

I hope this outing kills all of the trade talk about Sandy. Let's figure out what is wrong and keep him. We have to build the team around some quality players and Sandy is a quality pitcher who is under contract. I don't know if the trade talk has anything to do with the poor performance but I don't think it is helpful.

Meyer's gem signals potential breakout on horizon
Leo Armbrister replied to Nate Karzmer's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
The Marlins would gain a lot of credibility with the fans if they sign Meyer to a long term contrract this year if he continues to show this kind of effectiveness. They should also keep Sandy. Starting pitching is the key to winning games and you can't have to much of it. You have to start building the team at some point instead of giving our good players to the Yankees or whoever for their unporven prospects.- 3 replies
