  1. I often right critical comments regarding the Marlins but yesterdays win was well deserved. Management made only one major league free agent hiring in the off season. They lost Soler but Bell exercised his option and stayed with the team. So when we got off to a bad start I was not surprised. From that depleted staff we traded away every available quality player at the trading deadline. The remaining players are playing their heart out but there is a significant deficit of talent when compared to other major league teams. It is a credit to the remaining players and the manager and coaches that we are competitive at all. I hope in the near fututre that all of this pain will be rewarded with a winning team. I hope the prospects pan out and the front office add quality free agents to the team this off season.
  2. Our depleted bullpen failed again and the tough thing to watch is Tanner Scott got the save. Well look forward to a lot of the same type of losses for the remainder of the season. My guess after this years fire sale the Marlins will not have very much to give away at next years trade deadline.
  3. No one is happier when the Marlins win. However last night's loss is an example of what we can look forward to for the rest of the year. The team has a few good players but overall it is not competitive. Ramirez who pitched in the tenth inning probably should not be in the major leagues. We have two or three quality hitters but five or six of our players in the lineup are easy outs. So runs are going to be hard to come by and pitching is wanting. I would not be surprised if we lose 100 games. So I hope some of the young players develop and we get Sandy and Eure for next year.
  4. Luzardo has always beeen a puzzle to me. He has outstanding stuff and has pitched some outstanding games for the Marlins. However even when healthy he has pitched some dreadful games. He certainly doesn't have Sandy's toughness. Injuries happen but he is going to make a lot less money and blow an opportunity to be really great if he doesn't commit more to becoming consistent.
  5. Our starting pitching is going to be a major problemfor the forseable future. I hope the guys on the IL get healthry soon.
  6. Greg Cote's opinion column sums up the Marlins situation. If they think they can outsmart the other teams in baseball in evaluating talent and not spend any money they are smoking something. If you don't spend a reasonable amount of money you just can't compete. If you are willing to put out losinng teams with almost no all star worthy talent you are going to be in a constant state of low attendence and losing teams. I guess Sherman is fine with that but Marlins fans are getting tired of losing.
  7. Dane, you made a mistake. You are a young player and I hope you will learn from this incident and become the best player you can be. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing you succeed.
  8. I don't follow amateur baseball players but it seems that the experts on MLB wasn't excited with our Moralando pick at 16. I hope he works out but if we are not going to spend on FA's we have to hit on our draft picks. It is hard being a Marlins fan.
  9. Winning teams sign their promising young players to long term contracts as soon as they are sure that they are premium major league players. Teams which have a major goal of spending as little money as possible manipulates minor league players who are major league ready by keeping them in the minors to get another year of control. Those teams are never really win championships. Guess which chategory the Marlins fall into.
  10. I admit that I don't follow the Marlins minor league players but I was interested in the report for Nathan Martorello who we got in the trade for Arraes. He is batting 163. Now there are other players who were a part of that trade. If my memory is correct we DFA'd the picture and the other player is injured and will not play again this year. So at this point this trade is a total bust. So now we are going to trade our best players at the deadline. It is hard being a Marlins fan with our cheap owner and incompetent FO.
  11. Most good baseball franchises buy good players, in other words they sign their good core players to long term contracts. Other franchise like the Marlins rent players and try to use their trade value to build a winning team. Being a renter rather than a buyer means that you are going to have many 100 loss seasons, very little chance for a championship.
  12. If he's and his agent is smart they should negotiate any extention with the Marlins and recoup the money he is losing for being relegated to the minors when he is clearly ready. In fact I would not be surprised if the Marlins are unable to sign him to an extension.
  13. Is Max Meyer injured or is he in the "dog house". There must be a rational explanation why he hasn't been recalled with all of these injuries to the Marlins pitching staff.
  14. Why is Max Myers still in Jacksonville. If he reaches the maximum pitches they have allotted for him shut him down then. If that is August or early September. What difference does it make. We have no shot at the playoffs.
  15. The recent version of Tim Anderson is acceptable however he has not demonstrated any power. If he continues to hit singles at this pace maybe we should keep him for the full year.
  16. Actually nobody is hitting on this team. When was the last time someone hit a homerun or hit the ball to the warning tract. Those hits are few and far in between. When you don't spend money to get quality players this is what you get. The pitching which is supposed to be a strength can't win you games because everygame there is no room for error. While there are a couple of decent complimentary players on this team there is no Marlins player that I would vote to be an All Star. This season is loss. I hope we draft a couple of good players so that in five years we can see some decent talent in Miami.
  17. In the past I always use to vote for several Marlins to make the All Star team. This year I don't feel any Marlin is worthy. As a result I will not vote for any Marlin to make the team.
  18. The teams lack of talented hitters is being exposed. Bendix did nothing to bring in quality hitters and now our pitching which was supposed to be a strenghth is letting us down. The pitchers have no room for error because we score so few runs.
  19. Why don't we get rid of Anderson and play Edwards. He is the future ans Anderson has no long term future with the Marlins.
  20. Our relief pitching has been horrible this year. We have got to figure this out if we want to win any games.
  21. Rogers may not be the pitcher he was a couple of years ago. We have to be realistic and use the best talent in the organization. Why isn't Myers in Miami for example. Why did we send Roddery down. Even if the pitching is decent wedon't score enough runs to win many games. The team is not very good and the fault is Bendix and Sherman. I hope things get better but I am not sure I see anything that will change things.
  22. Our pitching especially our bullpen is a disaster.
  23. Sherman views the Marlins as an investment and not as an owner who first priority is to win. The resources will never be there to build a competitive team. He should sell to an owner who will invest in signing quality players.
  24. Why did we start Sixto to start against the Braves tonight. We have two pitchers in Jacksonville that have performed well in starting roles. The decisions this team makes don't make any sense. We really don't have the talent to compete then we refuse to play our best players.
