  1. Looking ahead to next season, I have no idea where the Marlins are going to find three starting outfielders and a catcher. (Not that t;he other four positions are settled either!)
  2. I see September as postseason for the Marlins. Don't know why Thomas White and Jake Brooks, for example, didn't get starts for Pensacola or Jacksonville in the final week.
  3. When has Nick Fortes not been on the roster this year?
  4. 7. Miami Marlins The Marlins invested $8.6 million in high school pitching with their first two picks in the 2023 Draft, and now left-hander Thomas White and right-hander Noble Meyer are their two best prospects -- and two of the better mound prospects in the game. They've further bolstered their pitching supply via trades (Robby Snelling, Adam Mazur) and the Draft (Aiden May, Grant Shepardson) this summer. Keep an eye on 18-year-old left-hander Keyner Benitez, who succeeded as the youngest starter in the Single-A Florida State League.
  5. The error charged to Edwards was Bride's failure to pick a short hop that actual first baseman perform automatically.
  6. Should we be talking about Ryan Ignoffo as the system's player of the year? While transitioning to catcher he hasn't just hit better than any of his teammates at Jupiter or Beloit, he's done it by a massive margin. And 20 stolen bases for good measure. I'd like to read an indepth evaluation of how he's doing defensively.
  7. Given that the mission of every minor leaguer is to play so well that the major league team has to make them a regular, my minor leaguer of the year is Xavier Edwards.
  8. Based on his results in the last two outings, Robby Snelling should be getting some major league experience right now! Can;t think of any downside to this.
  9. I'm a huge Cabrera fan but he was really fortunate in this game. He gave up lots of hard contact throughout the game. That's baseball.
  10. I agree that Sanoja strikeout rate says he will transition well to majors. I watched him at Jupiter a few times a couple years ago and he stood out above all the other players in terms of athleticism. However, I want both he and Serna to be everyday players for the Marlins. They are exciting!! (A feature that was lost in trading Jazz.
  11. Noble Meyer has turned into a mess. Not liking that in the least, especially when Marlins passed on such a good catching prospect as Teel to draft a high risk high schooler.
  12. Interesting debate on Serna vs Sanoja, multi-positional munchkins at 5-7. Not sure how Serna, I think a year older than Sanoja and a level behind (AA vs AAA) with very similar career stats, can be rated higher than Sanoja. Honestly, I like them both and wish they were in the lineup for the Marlins right now. How about Serda at SS, Edwards at 2B, and Sanoja in CF?
  13. The especially tough thing to handle with the Berry pick was that Brooks Lee was still sitting there, waiting to get plucked. In addition to matching Berry's hitting performance in the draft year, Lee played good defense at shortstop and had good speed. He also would have been the Marlins top prospect coming into the 2024 season.

  15. I assume we will be watching the best defensive outfielder in the history of the Marlins, maybe as soon as tonight.
  16. Posted June 24 The best MILB hitting prospects are Edwards and Sanoja, certainly not Head or Mesa Jr. With all the love there was for Arraez, I'm amazed that Edwards goes unrecognized. He IS Arraez - just with more speed and defensive ability.
  17. As you will recall, I touted Edwards as the second coming of Luis Arraez (only with more speed and defensive ability) before his call up. He ought to be moved to 2B right now and replaced at SS by Javier Sanoja.
  18. A lot of A's handed out by Fish on First staff with regard to trade deadline deals. I didn't see much positive, not even in the Norby and Stowers acquisition. Neither one will be OPS average player in my estimation. The resounding F was the Jazz trade. Next to Hanley Ramirez (in his early years), Jazz is the most overall talented player to wear a Marlins jersey. Don't care if the stat book claims he is just average this year. Nobody has a higher ceiling.
  19. Norby and Stowers could be starters for a terrible major league team ... and they found one. Aother F for the Fish.
  20. Edwards has been brilliant for the Marlins. Bendix was in the front office that traded him to the Marlins. I'd love to hear his explanation as to why the Rays did that.
  21. There's no way to spin this trade in a positive way. Marlins need a catcher but Ramirez is not one. Like the Arraez trade, it's an F.
  22. Until the last couple weeks, Meyer wasn't pitching well enough in AAA to merit starting for the Marlins..
  23. The thing holding Jazz back is the fact that he grades out as a pretty average player. I think there's a lot of upside to him and wouldn't dare sell low..
