  1. Noticed the recent quote from Jazz regarding his preference for playing IF. It's where he should be. Jazz at 2B represents the ONE position where the Marlins are better than the rest of the division. Jazz is better than Albies, Stott, McNeil and Garcia. Why trade him?
  2. It seems that Trevor Rogers is having to reinvent himself as a pitcher now that he's tossing 91 instead of 94-95, Who knows how that will turn out.
  3. Mine: Jazz to Boston for Kyle Teel, catching prospect Jazz tp Reds for Noelvi Marte, IF prospect
  4. Atlanta, Arizona, Detroit, Reds The Seattle deal seems pretty realistic
  5. It's Sanoja time for sure. The toughest guy to strike out in all of AAA has also popped three homers in the last two days! CF or infield ... doesn't matter.
  6. 1) He;s at an even 1.00 OPS+, or nothing but an average performer. No team is going to give the Marlins much. 2) Jazz is pretty much the only "average" player the Marlins have. He's not expensive and I think everyone would agree that we are seeing his basement, not his attic. Not the time to move him. 3) I think he will be less glaringly inadequate if he is dropped down in the batting order. His failure to be selective at the plate is a no-no for a leadoff guy. Note: For me, it's Sanoja time at either first or second in the order. SS or OF. All good. If we can sneak Edwards, Lopez, Sanoja, and Jazz onto the field every day. Those are the guys I want to watch.
  7. Harry Ford or Red Sox Kyle Teel would look good behind the plate for Miami
  8. Open question: If you are the GM, what trade package would you insist upon in order to move Jazz Chisholm?
  9. Exciting times for Marlin fans, who get to see the dawn of first-rounder Tony Orlando!
  10. The Marlins are fortunate enough to have a following with extremely low expectations for the draft and trade/free agent acquisitions. 16. Miami Marlins — PJ Morlando, OF, Summerville (SC) Grade: D+ This is a serious stunner. Morlando was viewed as a possible Day 1 pick with a later selection by a team with bonus pool money to spend. Selecting him at No. 16 is a bit high. He's an older prep prospect at 19, and though he has an advanced hit tool for a high-school prospect, there isn't a ton of power at present in the 6-3 outfielder's swing. Morlando is also not a burner and is a below-average defensive player. Unless he makes strides defensively, he needs to show more power in the pros. 17. Milwaukee Brewers — Braylon Payne, OF, Elkins (TX)
  11. To build a Yankees trade, you have to start and finish with Jason Dominguez. Jazz, Scott, and Nardi would seem ballpark reasonable.
  12. A question for Eli and co. In order to secure Jason Dominguez from NY, how might the Marlins expand on a Chisholm Jr and Tanner Scott trade package?
  13. It's a growing belief that Jazz Chisholm may be the only Marlin to amass an OPS above the MLB average this season. However, he's just another o-4 or two from dropping beneath 100. It should be noted that with sufficient at bats to qualify, Xavier Edwards will easily lead the club. He sits at 122 right now. Note: former 2b Luis Arraez rates only 101.
  14. I just floundered the last fifteen minutes of my life looking for a realistic Chisholm deal. I guess you could take a shot in the dark by sending him to Pirates for high first round picks Termarr Johnson and Henry Davis. A second remote possibility might be Noelvi Marte and a second hitting prospect.
  15. The question here is: Why trade Jazz? You don't improve the team by trading the best player.
  16. Always enjoy your commentary, Cup of Joe. You are an astute contributor. HOWEVER, it should be noted that with the season already gone to graveyards everywhere (from "Blowin' in the Wind, of course), players are merely positioning themselves for their next contracts. Stats=Cash. Go, Jesus!
  17. I guess it's time to start summing up the Peter Bendix Era because it will likely end soon. Why not start with the big financial donation to San Diego? Bendix had ownership write a multi-million dollar check for the balance of the Arraez contract and the salary of No Go Well, a free agent pitcher from the Orient, for 23-year-old minor leaguers named something like Mercy and Mozarella and a prospect who had no prospect of playing baseball any time soon. Just think. Bendix and company were PAID to orchestrate that transaction! At least the M@M boys are batting .350 if you add their two averages together (That's right. They are hitting a buck seventy-five each!) Christian Bethancourt. Is it even conceivable that he could be worse than Jacob Stallings ... by a mile? Tim Anderson. Bendix bet $5 million of ownership's money to see if the SS could bounce back from being the worst shortstop in baseball in 2023. That's a low bar. Bendix limboed beneath it. Perhaps the next Marlins GM will be a former ticket-taker from Atlanta or Philadelphia.
  18. Does Edwards take over at SS, marking the end of Anderson's unfortunate tenure?
  19. Noticed he wasn't in Shrimp lineup tonight. On the way to join the Marlins? Just a hunch. He could be injured for all I know.
  20. Most pleasant surprise: Otto Lopez 128 OPS in May Biggest disappointment: Otto Lopez 28 OPS in June
  21. The best MILB hitting prospects are Edwards and Sanoja, certainly not Head or Mesa Jr. With all the love there was for Arraez, I'm amazed that Edwards goes unrecognized. He IS Arraez - just with more speed and defensive ability.
