Troy Johnston is currently a better bat than De Los Santos (vastly better in DWL this year). I don't see De Los Santos making any kind of significant contribution in the majors - or Johnston for that matter. Maybe the Marlins could make him part of a trade package for a real difference-maker.

Ely, I noticed your post on the Royce Lewis trade earlier today. I think the key to getting him from Minnesota (I have often dreamed of getting Lewis) would be Ryan Weathers, who came on strong last season. Weathers and Ramirez, not Mack. I am very disappointed in the package Marlins received for Jazz. Somehow, some way, the Marlins needed to capture Dominguez from the Yankees in that deal. Dominguez and Lewis, health risks that they are, have the potential to turn the Marlins offense around.

Marlins TV announcer Paul Severino not returning in 2025

I'd give Kelly Sako a shot at the play by play. I'd pair her with Rod Allen. -
The team should know what they have in Fulton at this point. He should pretty much be in the best shape of his life.

Undesirable? Maybe. However, managerial jobs are in short supply and many coaches out there would love one of those precious jobs. While the Marlins have a s***** lineup, they have a potentially great pitching staff. That's something. The new Marlins manager will not have to suffer the pressure of winning either. I'd like to see someone like Juan Pierre come out of the woodwork. A manager that's focused on small ball - bunting, base-stealing, and defense - would have some personnel to work with such as Edwards, Lopez, Sanoja, Myers and Serna.

Should Marlins target Jakob Junis in free agency?
Slacker Mills replied to Kevin Barral's topic in Other Baseball
Seeing how a 4.50 ERA would be considered a disappointment for any of the starters you have projected, I don't see where hiring Junis would be helpful. I would prefer to see how Mazur, Snelling and Meyer fare in the spring once they receive tutelage from their new coaches, whomever they may be. -

For me, the team would look a whole lot better if Teel had been drafteded over Noble Meyer. How in the hell do you pass on anther Adley Rutschman?- 9 replies

My 2024-25 Marlins offseason blueprint

Dax Fulton is a must-protect prospect. No way I trade Cabrera. He could very well be one of the team's top pitchers next season.Same goes for Luzardo. He, along with Alcantara, Garrett, Cabrera and Weathers make up the rotation to start the 2025 season. Mazur, Snelling and Meyer are in the wings. No way I protect Stowers, Hill or Conine. Brujan has disrproven himself over and over.- 9 replies

Marlins can field an exciting, interesting team with existing talent. One thing that can be relied upon is speed. A starting lineup that would feature Sanoja, Meyers, Sanchez in the OF and Edwards and Lopez in the IF would keep strikeouts to a minimum (except for Sanchez), play good defense, and steal 20-50 bases each. I am clearly in the minority, but I see Mack behind the plate with Fortes. Mack actually outperformed what Realmuto did in the minors at the same age. Alcantara, Luzardo, Garrett, Cabrera, Weathers, Meyer, Snelling, Oller, Bellozo, etc., along with Perez should provide ample rotation depth even if three or four bite the dust.

Tracking 2024-25 Miami Marlins fall/winter ball players
Slacker Mills replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Don't know why Norby couldn't play left field. He isn't good enough to play at third. Otto Lopez was all world at second base and his offense is just starting to shine. Another option is first base. The Marlins need a first sacker who can catch the short hops and prevent infield errors. Imagine how much stronger Edwards' numbers at short would look if not for the egregious misplays by Burger and Bride. First basemen like Freeman, Goldschmidt,, Guerrero, etc. make those catches routinely.- 7 replies

Miami's 2024 Arizona Fall League delegation; baby Baumann
Slacker Mills replied to Ely Sussman's topic in Miami Marlins Talk
Hard to see playing time for the Marlin delegation. They'll get the required minimum innings, I guess.
