  1. Bendix says Caba is going to be a superstar! And to think I thought this was a bad deal for the Marlins.
  2. Pretty soon the Marlins will need just a single walk-up-to -the-plate song for the entire team: Randy Newman's "Short People."
  3. They say you can only judge a trade over time. Not true. That was just an awful ... make that pathetic... deal.
  4. He gone! Marlins part with most special citizen on the team ... for nada. Actually, Caba checked all the boxes. Very short. Really quick. and walks more than he whiffs. But as a return for one of the most talented young lefties in the game? Ridiculo!
  5. i'm hoping that the Marlins will be all about contact hitting and aggressive base-running. At least that way they will be fun to watch. I watched a Joe Frisaro podcast the other day. He mentioned that Bendix should never be allowed to speak to the media because he spews nonsense. So true.
  6. Talks never made sense in the first place. Marlins can't get full value until Luzardo gets on the mound.
  7. My guess is that if the Marlins trade Luzardo during the offseason, the Cubs' Alcantara will be involved. Marlins could see him as the CF.
  8. My question: How is Bride a backup to Norby? Based on what I've seen, Bride is the better player, particularly when it comes to getting on base.
  9. Of course Sherman is feeling shy about signing free agents. His front office has been utterly foolhardy, with Bendix taking the biggest boondoggle trophy for signing Tim Anderson. The sad thing is that I knew all these signings were terrible the instant they were made! Heck, Anderson put up exactly the same crap numbers in Miami as he did in Chicago. h Worst of all, Bendix traded super talented Jazz Jr. Only one team wins the division each year. The others have to rely on interesting players to make games interesting. team. Jazz, at second base, was the one super talent on the team. Moving him to CF was the product of utter failure at finding and employing an experienced CF. Yes, Jazz was very immature, but he will only soften that crap as time goes on. No one on the current roster can even dream on 24 HR and 40 SB. in a season ... and Jazz is capable of improving on that.
  10. Red Sox Projected Blockbuster Lands Marlins Star Jesús Luzardo In 4-Player Swap
  11. Kevin, did you read the in-Spanish interview of Eury Perez that he did last week? Assuming you did, could you please let us know what he had to say?
  12. I will be very surprised if Norby manages to impress in the first half of the season. I assume he'll turn into a short side platoon player, most likely in left field.
  13. Seriously, though, isn't Alcantara the pitcher that should be marketed if he comes out of spring training looking great?
  14. While bballtradevalues has Weathers and Luzardo with about equal value, I could make a case for Weathers being the more serious trade candidate right now. He was much better than Luzardo last season and is seemingly on the rise.
  15. Thanks for the trade proposals - my favorite kind of baseball writing. There are enough good OF prospects on other teams (none on the Marlins of course) to build an OF in Miami. Luzardo, Weathers, and Garrett (if he can even lift his left arm) could land a few. However, now is definitely not the time to make those trades. Gotta wait for late spring or early season.
  16. Wouldn't it be tragic to deal Luzardo now! Early this past season Cub fans were talkling Matt SHaw, Owen Cassie (or whatever his name is) and more for the Marlin lefty. Now the Marlins have no shot at either of them. Dealing Luzardo for anything less than a top prospect or two would be criminal negligence on the part of the Marlins front office.
  17. Hard to imagine that X Edwards is not catching some love here. He's Luis Arraez with speed and more defensive ability. Otto Lopez is on the rise. I can't get on board the Ramirez or De Los Santos trains. DLS came up very short at Jacksonville last season. Ramirez would have a brighter looking future if he could throw out even the occasional base stealer. Jesus Luzardo could have been traded for some huge value a year ago (as in two positional regulars from a team like the Cubs.) Alcantara would have garnered a very big haul the year before. I've got a gut feeling that Bendix is in way over his head despite the fact that he is merely splashing around in the shallow end.
  18. I see Edwards leading the league in batting average in 2025..
  19. He's going to have to hit at Jacksonville before the team can even contemplate seeing him in a Marlins uniform. I'm not buying any stock in him at this point.
  20. My error. Mack and Ramirez had about the same number of total bases in the same number of at bats.
  21. Why watch Ramirez moreso than Joe Mack? Mack had more total bases in fewer at bats and did so in the Southern League no less. And of course he's far better defensively! And Mack is younger. Why watch White moreso than Snelling? He's about the same age as Snelling and hasn't thrown a single pitch in AA yet. Why get excited about DLS? He didn't even hit in the Dominican Winter League and the whiffs are a huge problem. Guy that I'm watching? Jacob Miller, He;s way ahead of Noble Meyer.
  22. I can't see Brujan or Stowers on the 26-man under any circumstances. I expect a couple new hitters on the team by the end of spring training after a couple trades for Miami starting pitchers.
  23. Norby's work product was similar to Jake Burger's. I expect to see him flipped as well. Jesus Sanchez can only contribute if he's limited to hitting RHP. Bride is a riser. De Los Santos is a loooong way from being a major league hitter.
  24. Actually the team most needs guys who get on base and make decent contaact. The trade of Burger was a declaration in favor of Bride as the more valuable player of the two defensive misfits. Right now I'm building my lineup around Edwards, Lopez and Bride. Side note: it really sucked that the Pirates were able to grab Joey Bart for nothing last season. He would have been the Marlins' top hitter ... and at the catcher position of all things.
