Jesus Luzardo and Reds suspended SS/3B Noelvi Marte share basically equal value according to baseballtradevalues. Reds see themselves in the hunt for post season play. Marte will be eligible by the 81st game of this season after serving his penalty on a drug violation. Therefore, it's an opportune time to grab Marte, who could become a Marlins star. I begin and end with this suggestion because I don't see any Marlins trade bait that could capture a solid building block.

None of that would have precluded inserting Fortes as the DH and benc;hing a non-hitter like Burger. A manager's job is to give his team the best chances of winning. One of the primary duties of a manager is to decide who plays, where they play, and the battng order. We've seen Skip give a day off to a lefty bat vs a lefty pitcher, for example. Well, how about if you have a player with just two prior at bats off Met's starter Manaea - both resulting in home runs! That player is none other than Nick Fortes. It would seem obvious that, for at least one day, a manager would maybe move Fortes to the clean up spot in order to take advantage of the situation. What does Skip do? He leaves Fortes out of the lineup completely! Does anyone, anywhere, have an explanation for this?

I provide this unsolicited advice with the best of intentions. I follow your offerings daily and just want your efforts to be fully rewarded.

I know you are trying to create a Marlins web site that attracts as many participants and viewers as possible. I also see that you are generating virtually no replies. The reason for that is simple. You need to foster discussions that are spirited and argumentative. It's baseball. Fans have strong opinions and love to express them. Nurturing positivity will never get you attention.

As I've mentioned a couple times, no AAA player in baseball began the season hitting like Lopez. I won't even post his numbers over nine games at Jacksonville because they are too hard to believe. He seemed like a perfect addition to a Marlins team that can't hit at all. Despite the hot bat, he has been used infrequently. How can that be?

I can remember two different times that Jazz bunted for two hits in a single game. Off Strasburg in 2022 and off Lance Lynn this season. The question: Why in the world doesn't Jazz employ the bunt on a regular basis, especially now that he is leading off? Why aren't Brujan and Gordon bunting as well? Perhaps it's the manager's call and Skip doesn't want to generate more offense, but it could only help.

Sure wouldn't go for that. Scott is a good to great major leaguer. Alcantara is a longshot to even play at that level.

Can't come up with any positives on Brujan. The comp should be Anderson, not Arraez. He's poor defensively and has no power. Worthless.

Otto Lopez, who can actually hit, is not getting playing time even after the Arraez trade I would let Lopez play every day and choose his own position.

This was the first real awakening to 1) Bendix incompetence and 2) the fact that he had nothing to do with personnel decisions before coming to Miami. Immediately after Bendix donated $5M to Anderson, the Rays signed Amed Rosario for $1.5M with about an additional 500K Incentives. Rosario currently carries a 120 OPS+, which I believe is higher than ANY Marlin. Said it then and everyday since, Anderson was a huge mistake.

Just disagree that Head was seen as the centerpiece here. Marsee put himself in elite company by winning the MVP award at the Arizona Fall League last fall. As a Marlins prospect, I'd have him at the top of the list of position players along with Cappe, Coley Jr. Mesa Jr.. and Edwards.

Injured list Jasson Dominguez is another option for the Marlins. He would require a short-stack of major leaguers going the other way, including a revitalized Luzardo, maybe Nardi, and possibly Ryan Weathers. Or maybe the Yankees would like to have Jazz patrolling CF.

I'd like to think that Edwards could actually be an upgrade over Arraez, given a better defensive profile and tremendous speed. Yes, I'll admit to having an extreme position on that.

When I pointed to Mesa Jr. as the next Marlins leadoff hitter, I forgot about Xavier Edwards. Out of sight and out of mind thus far. It should be remembered that Edwards was phenomenal at Jacksonv iille last season. .351, .429, and .886. And how about 52 walks and only 30 whiffs. Hopefully he'll overcome his strange foot infection and take over at 2b and the top of the order soon.

Make no mistake - the Marlins got four players from the Padres in the Arraez deal, but they are paying his salary only because they wanted Jakob Marsee, the AFL MVP last fall. Why not want that pedigree? Other recent MVPs of that league were Acuna Jr., Royce Lewis, Kris Bryant, Heston Kjerstad and Gleyber Torres. Still, the only way they got Marsee was because he is in the midst of an awful start in AA this year. The Marlins were willing to gamble. Let the trading begin. There are no sacred names on the current Marlins roster and shouldn't be. How about Jazz Chisholm to Cincinnati for Noelvi Marte? Marte won't be available until the 80th day of the season because of a failed drug test, but he would instantly become the face of the Marlins franchise. And then there is Orelvis Martinez up in Toronto. The offensively challenged Jays could use a bat like Jake Burger and maybe a reliever like Scott. With Marte and Martinez in the IF, the Marlins suddenly look interesting. Moving Jazz would instantly open up CF and the leadoff spot to Victor Mesa Jr. I was low on Mesa for a couple years, but he has grown into a genuine prospect. Love that he takes walks.

One honest to god guy that's ready for the majors and has four or five tool upside would have worked for me. As it stands, piss poor for the Fish.

Would have much preferred something like Arraez and Tanner Scott for Orelvis Martinez from Blue Jays.

Big League assets who have maintained their value: Zero Big League assets who are worth at least something: Arraez, Chisholm, Cabrera, Rogers, Perez, Alcantara, Garrett, Burger, Minor Leaguers whose time has accelerated: Mesa Jr., Lopez, Bride, Johnston, Edwards and Gray.
