  1. Trevor Rogers and Jesus Luzardo for Royce Lewis?
  2. Luzardo to the Reds straight up for Noelvi Marte. Does either team blink? Braxton Garrett to Dodgers for top prospect C Dalton Rushing. Works for both teams?
  3. Ely, thanks for answering my questions.
  4. Has Jazz ever reached based five times in a game before? Might be a personal high for him. He walked three times, which is normally a two game total for the entire team!
  5. Forgot a category of player: Those who used to have potential but now have little trade value so you pretty much hold on and hope for the best. Garrett, Rogers, Cabrera, Hoeing.
  6. Players you don't want and have no trade value: De La Cruz, Burger, Bell, Anderson, J Sanchez, Fortes, Bethancourt, Brujan, Gordon, Myers, Players with maybe a tiny bit of value: Jazz, Luzardo, Tanner Scott. Players you should keep but have little trade value: Lopez, Edwards, Sanoja. Note: Sure wish the team had kept Eder. I think he's going to be good -
  7. Anyone know why Meyer missed his scheduled start for Beloit last night?
  8. Though I held out hopes for him for the longest time, Jesus Sanchez has had his chance. Just didn't work out. Conine Time. Jake Eder is still pitching in AA and faces Pensacola tonight. Just a couple years ago, prior to TJS, he was the best pitcher in all of AA. He may still shine. Can't say the same for Burger, who came over in the trade with White Sox.
  9. If you could select just one Marlin from the current 26-man roster to keep, who would it be?
  10. Don't know his name but he manages DSL Miami. They stole 10 bases today without being caught even once. The team is 5-1 thus far.
  11. Hard to get favorable count for Marlin hitters, seeing how they swing at everything. It's hard to imagine that a whole team could suffer from the same problem, but it's true. Opposing pitchers glide through the Miami lineup without having to throw a single pitch in the strike zone.
  12. Would any Marlin fan want JJ Bleday as an everyday player? I sure wouldn't, but that tells the story of the Marlins misery. Bleday is hitting about .240 with 9 homers and a .320 OBP. The resulting OPS is better than ANY Marlin! How pathetic is that? And there is no visible means of escape. Nobody to trade. Luzardo's value has suddenly tanked. Nobody wants Josh Bell for his money or even a third of it. Burger has fallen off a cliff. Jesus Sanchez is simply not going to work out ... not even for the Marlins. The team is utterly devoid of offense from the catchers. De La Cru is having his best season and still couldn't attract a good prospect from any other team. All the Marlins can logically do is put Otto Lopez, Xavier Edwards, and Javier Sanoja on the field and focus on small ball - literally.
  13. Agree with your observation that none of the system's hitters are progressing. This is on the new Bendix team for sure and just another reason to loathe what they aren't accomplishing.
  14. Not that prospect lists mean much, but how in the heck are Edwards and Otto Lopez not near the very top of the Marlin list? They aren't even listed in the top 30!!
  15. And Edwards has been playing SS at Jacksonville.
  16. Anderson already pulled the plug. The Marlins simply need to let it him disappear down the drain. Dropping him is a lot cheaper than the dropping of Arraez was.
  17. No Edwards in the Jumbo Shrimp games today. Means he has finally been summoned to bring his Arraez bat to Miami.
  18. Scott is probably most likely. Don't even know that Luzardo will be good trade bait. The offseason was the safe way to move him - he's worth a lot less now. Weathers has been a pleasant surprise, but he's a mid-rotation guy at best. Let's face it with Jazz; he's been a bit of a disappointment. It's tough to be thinking rebuid when there's little in the way of real assets.
  19. I would ask: At this point, what do you view as your greatest strength as a developing player? And what areas are in need of the most improvement?
  20. The Sanoja experience is best viewed live. Even when he struggled at Jupiter as a 19 year old, I saw him as by far the most interesting and exciting player on the field. He had the loudest bat on the nights I saw him. He made brilliant plays at SS. He looked like the fastest player on the field by a mile. He's awesome. Speaking of May this season, Sanoja led the Shrimp in rbi despite batting in the 8-hole most games.
  21. If May is your measure, top prospect hitter is a three-way choice between Sanoja, Edwards and Otto Lopez with Mesa Jr. in the hunt. The three would make a productive top three in the batting order in Miami. Age considered, I'd lean Sanoja.
  22. WHIP has always been the best measure for me. In that regard. Meyer 0.82 Hoeing 0.92 Garrett 1.02 Weathers 1.09 Luzardo 1.09 Cabrera 1.59 Rogers 1.84 Considering sample sizes and last season, our best starters at the moment are of course Garrett and Luzardo, with Weathers on the rise, Rogers and Cabrera in flux. Sixto in limbo.
  23. Among all the new pitching stats, Fielding Independent Pitching is probably the most interesting and revealing. Given that, here are relevant numbers for the Marlins starters: Garrett 2.75 Luzardo 3.45 Meyer 3.71 Sanchez 3.99 Cabrera 4.16 Weathers 4.23 Rogers 4.33 Puk 6.27 Munoz 7.02
  24. Placement of Otto Lopez near the bottom of the batting order bothers me greatly.
  25. Or how about Luzardo to the Red Sox for Catcher Kyle Teel and 3B Mathew Lugo? Or go bigger yet with Luzardo and Weathers for Teel, Lugo and SS Marcelo Mayer.
