  1. As playoff hopes hang by a thread, I really question bringing back Cabrera. The risk vs reward doesn't balance out for me.
  2. Agree on the bullpen, especially bring Simpson into high leverage situations I'd keep working with Gus at catcher in the off season. If we don't see progress try him at first base in the spring with DH as his backup slot. Mack behind the plate will be a huge upgrade and Alderman is raking at Jax. I hope they bring back Troy Johnston at 1B.
  3. Shrimp boat: I am thinking Alderman and Mack earned long looks at starting with Mesa a longshot. Snelling is a sure starter and if T.White gets stretched out I'd expect to see him in September. J.White and maybe Roa replace 2 relievers. That would be 6-7 more rookies. McSweeney came out of nowhere to give them some great innings, but not much said about him. Maybe a replacement for Bellozo. Trade Sandy - add 8 and we might have the cheapest, youngest roster in history.
  4. 1. Hill and Myers have to be dumped 2. Stowers Marsee - 2 starters 3. Alderman - We hope is #3 Griff - HH - Mesa - Johnston - Wiemer We keep 5 outfielders. None of those 5 bring back much, but all have potential. I hate to say this, but maybe we trade Stowers if he can bring back 2 (1 major league ready ) top 100 players. Once you go there: Trade Sandy for 2 - leaves Perez Cabrera Weathers Garret Snelling with Myers (who I have personally given up on ) or Mazur with White at mid-season I'd move Edwards if I could get something and move Norby to his preferred 2nd base with Acosta / Sanoja as possible replacements and Pauley on 3rd Ramirez DH Mack C
  5. It is getting hard to watch. A few Snelling starts before the season ends would add some interest
  6. I thought there was a limited ability to play without affecting your long term status. Be nice to see T White pitch a few games at AAA before the season ends. Alderman finally got the call and has 2 home runs in 2 games
  7. Myers and Gusto - Addition by subtraction How about Berry up and subtract Hill?
  8. He will be gone next year - too high salary and we need some advanced minor league bats: Perez Cabrera Weathers Garret Snelling Not that I don't agree that he should be back, but it's the Marlins and they will not pay 18m. No effin way
  9. Johnston hit 300 against lefties in AAA. I'd like to see him get a some at bats against lefties. The season is basically over. Let's see what we have. Marsee benched for Hill against lefties makes no sense to me. I'd bring up Mesa and see what he can do on a long leash.
  10. Hard to determine if he is the guy we saw in the AFL 2 years ago and AAA the last 2 months or the not so great year and a half in between, so I'd probably wait. As to the cheap Marlins, they will never give him or Perez extensions - IMHO. I'd like to see Johnston get at bats against lefties the rest of the year, so we know if he can be an inexpensive. contributor next year. I'll take him over Myers and Hill.
  11. Snelling is on fire and I can see why he was so highly rated in 2023, but I think he is being held back at AAA because of not wanting to advance his future pro contract. I'd like to see him come up and White take his place at AAA.
  12. Pauley had a higher OPS and a better glove than Norby. Remember they converted him from second where he said he preferred to play. I agree - try him at 1B and leave Pauley at 3rd
  13. Acosta to 3rd base. The guy is a plus fielding shortstop. Let Lopez move around and let's se what Max can do.
  14. Statring Acosta at SS where he has played all year might have given him more confidence in his first game.
  15. Acosta gets moved to 2nd base for his first major league game - error and 2 strikeouts. I would have started him at ss where he is more comfortable. Move Lopez for a day. We had a nice run and now it's time to throw it in and see if there is magic in the bottle at AAA. Snelling over Quantrill maybe
  16. I liked Myers early on, but the advanced metrics predicted what he has become. A good field, good run 5th outfielder. I question sitting Marsee against lefties. I question the early pinch hitting for Johnston as well.
  17. I'm not sold on Mesa either, nor am I sold on Weimer or Berry, but I am 100% done with the little league 3, so why not give them a chance now.
  18. Simpson should be continuing the learning process in the minors, not on our dime
  19. Hill Myers and Wagaman are not major league bats. They are all nearing 30 and it would take a miracle for them to develop. I'd like to see Johnston get a real chance. Maybe put Norby on 1st base and let Pauley finish the season at 3rd. Personally, I like him better. I'd rather see Mesa, Weimer and Berry than the aforementioned 3. Berry has actually been good since June began
  20. Being an old guy, I rely a bit more on conventional statistics, but about 6 weeks ago I read that advanced statistics made Dane a very overrated player and the fall was coming. Myers, Hill and Wagaman simply put, do not have major league bats and need to be gone. Conning - Hernandez- Marsee - Stowers +? (Pintar or Sanoja= Myers/Hill) for less and some possible upside ?Why did Marsee rest against a righty last game? Give Hill a chance? For what - this is not little league. Everyone does not have to play
  21. Looks like they traded a very good backup catcher and a solid platoon outfielder for a #6 starter (maybe) and 3 future pinch runners. Salary Dump!!!
