  1. Schumaker finally extended the starter (a bit), but perhaps it is only because the bullpen is thoroughly exhausted. The Marlins use five pitchers every game. This is because the Marlins (Schumaker, that is) is still chasing wins in this thirty-game-plus-sub-,500 season. We must be honest that he is most often playing for his own future engagements (managerial skill showcasing) rather than evaluative purposes.
  2. Marlins sweep the Rockies! Stowers as MVP. Have a pleasant week,
  3. Good day - Marlins win the series two games to one. MVP - Jake Burger.
  4. The Bendix Marlins are coming together. These next few years are going to be super interesting.
  5. Good pickup. I like Hill and he will have a chance to stick in Spring Training - lots of competition, though.
  6. I figure Stowers might be the Norby corresponding move. Give Stowers a few weeks to get his head right and call him back on the 1st.
  7. I look forward to the Bellozo starts. He's fun to watch not only because of his old-school style, but I know the Marlins will be in the game while he's in there. Let's see how the league reacts to him over the next six weeks. Lots of long flyouts and infield popups in the meantime. Next year, though, the Marlins get healthy again.
  8. Marlins win the series 2 games to 1. MVP is Xavier Edwards, Looking forward to the FOF pod tonight. Cheers,
  9. Marlins sweep the series. Jonah "Shotgun Wedding" Bride is the MVP.
  10. Masterful pitch-to-contact game from Bellozo. I truly enjoyed that old-school performance. I am also happy that Gordon is staying in the organization. As we have seen, anything can happen, so he is a nice insurance policy if things get weird.
  11. Glad that (at least) Gabe "Welcome Back" Kapler is staying in the FO. As we are entrusting the on-field makeover to Bendix, we can hardly deny him the front office/scouting team he wants.
  12. There is hardly worth repeating ourselves over this fellow. Is there a more frustrating individual who is still on the team?
  13. Sorry that I missed the prediction response. Although it doesn't matter or count, I was thinking sweep and Burger as MVP. Never disrespect a streak, as they say! A split would be ok, especially after the Bellozo performance. Now, Cabrera, it's time to build on that excellent outing of your own.
  14. The baseball merry-go-round never stops. It's SOP to bring in your own people, so it's not surprising that Bendix, making massive on-field changes, would do the same in the FO/scouting department. Many of the scouts are not sporting standout records, apparently.
  15. I was encouraged a bit by Stower's ABs, especially the line drive single and the bomb to center, while caught, was the product of a solid swing. He's working his way back to form, now with contact. Hits will follow if Schumaker leaves him in. That appears to be the team's thinking anyway.
  16. I must admit to an instant connection to Bellozo. He appears to be genuinely thankful and thoroughly enjoying the MLB experience. To boot, he recalls the pitching craftsmanship that goes beyond the obligatory elbow-destroying velocity in today's game. Wasn't the soft contact inducement inning after inning just an absolute pleasure to watch? All those soft pop-ups. The few hits were spaced out and the scoring opportunities for the Phillies were lithely maneuvered. So, while we await the "league catching on to him," or anything similar, let's enjoy this fresh air in baseball we have on our team.
  17. Amazing turnaround from Burger. He looked overmatched for five weeks, then...thunder!
  18. Kudos to Schumaker for leaving Meyer in there.
  19. Add me to the "never saw that before" list. That's our (not nearly as important) version of the NFL "tuck rule" game! LOL.
  20. I mentioned on X that I am fine with the Padres doing well - all of our old friends on the team and they are a fine counterweight to the Dodgers. Of course, if the D-backs repeat, that is fine. I suppose it's anyone except the Dodgers, even grudgingly accepting the Phillies or Braves while holding my nose! World Series rings for Arraez, Scott, and Hoeing (along with the first Padres franchise championship) would be a nice ending to this season of woe.
  21. It was a fantastic outing for Cabrera that gives everyone hope that the corner is indeed turned this time. If so, he is either a strong staffer for 2025 or has a big trade value pickup for the team. I applaud Schumaker for extending him as far as he could go this time. It has to be a tremendous confidence boost for him and the team.
