  1. Marlins Win 1, The 2023 NL Batting Champion MVP
  2. I'm just relieved I didn't read about an irksome elbow after clicking on a "worry about Eury" story! Once he's been old enough to order his own mojito for a couple seasons, I'll worry much more. Plenty of time to make the adjustments you allude to. Between Mel and Sandy, he'll spend all spring getting plenty of pointers.
  3. At two articles on counting on this. Do I think they will do it? Sadly, probably not. But should they do it? Absolutely. Especially if as Ely suggests, they can get the Brewers to part with a controllable MLB ready piece. But even if they don't...I think they should go for it if the price is as low as the Burnes trade would suggest.
  4. Well, no one can say the Marlins don't have a type. Just like, well everything else the Marlins have done this offseason, it's fine in and of itself. The problem is if that's all they do. Relying on Mondesi as anything more than organizational depth, or maybe a late inning defensive replacement and baserunning specialist, seems crazy given the track record. To borrow from another sport, Chris Grier would turn away from that kind of injury history.
  5. Also, if Anderson doesn't work out, drop a bag for Wily Adames next season when Sandy is back.
  6. Ranking those three? Eesh. Anderson, Rosario, Crawford. Putting Anderson first is entirely about the belief that at this point he would be cheap enough that the Marlins could afford a splashier signing at OF/DH, and hope for a rebound.
  7. I'm somewhat encouraged by the career platoon splits. One point diffference between his BA vs righties and lefties. Granted, gap was much wider in 2023. Interesting to see how it plays out.
  8. 5. That 2028 team might have some studs. Every move they have made this offseason is encouraging and likely needed to improve the development and selection of position player talent in the long-term. However, if this current slow pace continues, and/or multiple pieces are dealt from this core...it's going to be the same empty seats and low revenues, thus perpetuating the same cycle. New fans and customers are never buying in anytime soon if that's the approach.
  9. The Marlins say something very off color, then say no, hang up, shake their heads, and laugh hysterically for the next ten minutes. I'm not sure they'd even do it for Brooks Lee and Royce Lewis.
