Sharing our detailed notes from each day of Spring Training along with links to our full-length articles that provide additional insight.

Sunday, March 3 (via Alex Krutchik and Louis Addeo-Weiss)

-Article by Louis Addeo-Weiss: Rain, rain makes the game(s) go away.

-Both legs of the Marlins’ split-squad game (Jupiter and West Palm Beach) were rained out.

-A.J. Puk was supposed to throw three innings today. Because of the postponement, he will now pitch at 6:40 p.m. tomorrow against the New York Yankees in Jupiter. Edward Cabrera, originally penciled in as tomorrow’s starter, will follow Puk.

-Trevor Rogers threw a bullpen today. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said the plan is for Rogers to appear in a game early this week, possibly Tuesday.

-Schumaker said initial spring training roster cuts will take place “in the next few days”, as other teams around the league begin to make their cuts as well. Marlins Minor League camp opens tomorrow and games begin on March 12.

Saturday, March 2 (via Alex Carver and Isaac Azout)

-LHP Trevor Rogers threw live BP on Thursday. Skip Schumaker stated that it went well and that the next step is for Rogers to start a Grapefruit League game "in a couple of days." His pitch count will likely be in the 20s.

-1B Troy Johnston's ankle injury, which he suffered late in last night's game, was described as a day-to-day situation by Skip Schumaker. He will not be available today or tomorrow. "It's pretty swollen," Skip said.

-Schumaker spoke very high about the versatility of UTIL Vidal Bruján. Stated he will get a look in right field soon and that there is a "high probability" he makes the Marlins out of camp (Bruján is out of minor league options).

-After dealing with some general soreness, LHP Braxton Garrett has yet to throw live BP this spring. Skip: “Brax has had some really good days the last week or so, so his progression is now just building up to a live [BP]."

-RHP JT Chargois is scheduled to throw a bullpen today in Jupiter after dealing with neck spasms early in spring. Skip: “He’s a big part of that bullpen. He was working on a couple of different pitch shapes, like the cutter working off the slider to get some lefties, and he needs to work on it. He feels a lot better, and we’re hoping to see him soon.”
