We got a much clearer understanding of the 2024 Miami Marlins payroll on Thursday. It was the deadline to exchange salary figures with arbitration-eligible players. Entering deadline day, there were 11 unsigned members of the Marlins in that service time bracket, eight of whom settled on their salaries before the deadline. The other three will exchange figures with the club and likely head to arbitration hearings.

The projected salaries shown below come via MLB Trade Rumors.

  • Christian Bethancourt—earned $1.35M in 2023 | settled at $2.05M in 2024 (projected for $2.3M)
  • Jesús Luzardo—earned $2.45M in 2023 | settled at $5.5M in 2024 (projected for $5.9M)
  • A.J. Puk—earned $736k in 2023 | settled at $1.8M in 2024 (projected for $1.8M)
  • Jesús Sánchez—earned $739k in 2023 | settled at $2.1M in 2024 (projected for $2.0M)

Very Rays that Miami has 3 players in this situation. Arraez's salary dispute is one of the biggest discrepancies league-wide too.

Arraez should have been offered an extention. I hope he wins his arbitration fight. Sherman is to cheap to own a majorleague team.
