Good riddance. D.J. Svihlik's drafting, or lack thereof, has completely sabotaged this team's contention window and proceeded to thrust this team into yet another rebuild. What he did with the Marlins may have set them back years.

 

The Marlins should do the right thing and blow it up. They do not have the depth to compete, and all of their prospect capitol has vanished. Their vaunted "Top 5 Farm System" from back in the late 2010s has transformed into a Bottom 5 Farm System today. It could take at least a decade to fix the damage Svihlik & company did to this franchise. They should trade all of their controllable 2023 contributors that might be heading into a hefty payday (Arraez, Jazz, Scott, others) for whatever scraps they could find and start from scratch.

 

But they won't. They'll think they can hang with the big boys, and get burned by a stacked division. They can't rely on the Cubs and Reds collapsing the way they did, and the Mets being the Mets forever.

 

Enjoy the 84-78 Wild Card Entrant Marlins. It may be another 10 years before they'll become relevant again.
