Poor Sandy. Out for 2024 and innings limit in 2025. How does one limit Sandy? This is gonna hurt season ticket sales big time. The fact that the Marlins were silent was a dead giveaway he was having the surgery, so no surprise there. But the point about the Marlins signing a pitcher is laugable - who, like Cueto. Just take up Cueto's option cuz we are not going to be able to afford anyone better. And we get a late start on the post season process while other teams talk to pitchers' agents and we haggle with Kim, then take more time to agree to terms with Oz Ocampo.

Mets GM role is a joke, as Sampson pointed out. Although that's like the pot calling the kettle black seeing as how under his reign the owner not just meddled with the GM, but also micro managed the manager during games (ask Joe Girardi). I'm sure Cohen will offer Kim the largest GM contract in baseball history, but she has been in that situation before reporting to Jeter and Denbo so I still predict that she is Beantown bound.

Regarding signing a pitcher, the first name that intrigues me is Giolito. I could definitely see him seeking a one-year pillow deal to re-establish himself. Even if the team isn't contending, he would be a nice rental to shop at the trade deadline.

We have seen how one year pillow deals work out. Just look at Cueto. Rather than re-establishing themselves, they just cash one more paycheck before retirement.
