Here's my comments on the ballboygate scandal. In case anyone missed it one of the outfield ball boys threw a fair ball into the stands causing a run to score in the 6th inning. Mookie Betts was already rounding third and had a good head of steam so the ump gave him home causing a run to socre. Not that it mattered in the final outcome.

Some on X and Reddit have questioned the young man's competence. Let me join them. The ball boy in question is clearly obese likely does not participate in sports (possibly sumo wrestling). He was busy eating sunflower seeds and spitting them into his cup both before and after the play.

This is a good learning experience for the Marlins. Why not tap into the pool of thousands of young high school and college baseball players in the area - from boys baseball and girls/transgender softball. These folks would clearly know the rules and would benefit from some time with a professional baseball team. Plus the goodwill would be enormous, rather than hiring obese youngsters who are more interested in the free sunflower seeds and not aware of whats going on in the game.

Update on the Clemente Award nominees: it's Jorge Soler this year

Per Wikipedia, the winner is announced at the World Series. Let's hope Jorge is there, in person, in a Marlins uniform, to accept it.
