Lost in all the excitement over yesterday's win is two pitching issues.

Eury is clearly broken. By sending him down we sent a strong message that we see him as a minor leaguer and not really part of the MLB team. His lack of confidence showed. He started out every batter I watched 1-0 and started multiple innings with a runner on first before getting the first out. Many of his outs were due to heroics by his teammates, not his pitchiing. At this point, he is broken and letting him start again cedes the game as an experiment to turn him around. I would have thought his buddy Alcantara would have told him to attack the zone, especially with his pitch speed, but he did not. Kim's experiment has failed.

Secondly, Skip conceded the game by bringiing in Brazoban halfway through the game down only three runs. He is purely an innings eater who gives up runs as he did yesterday. We keep using him when we have plenty of other players with lots of rest in the bullpen.

 

On Wander Franco, what I read is not that he assaulted a 14 year old. He is in a consensual relationship with a 14 year old girl. She wanted him to attend her school dance with her, probably to show off her $182 million boyfriend, and he did. The inevitable social media posts revealed their relationship. Maybe he can coach her to say that it was just a friendship and a player showing support for a young fan. Maybe MLB or the state prosecutor won't be able to prove sex, if they keep their mouths shut, but I doubt it. There are probably texts. With the acceptance of things like transexuals, which used to be taboo, we are likely to see more taboos broken. Where he is from, a 22 year old dating a 14 year old girl is not unusual. Will this become another taboo that becomes accepted in the US?

Don't think the initial plan was for Brazoban to stay out there that long, but once the deficit swelled to 6-1 in his first inning, they understandably didn't see much chance of salvaging the game. He's probably getting sent down for Tommy Nance or another fresh arm.

Definitely not as optimistic against the Astros as for the Yankee series. I predict Miami wins only 1 game of the series. MVP: Kyle Tucker.

Now it is reported that Wander's girl is 19, he met her at a nightclub where she worked, she drank alcohol, she drove a car and has a 17 month old child. So he thought she was legal. According to him, after HE broke up with her, she and her mother asked for $200k and a mercedes benz. This should be easy to investigate. Just pull her DR birth certificate and ask him to provide the texts where she extorted him. If all of the above is true, he is a major victim here. But its easy to investigate. MLB needs to provide answers today. If all their lawyers cannot determine the girls age after 24 hours of work, how can an uneducated player like Franco determine it.
