As well, you can't talk about Michael Lorenzen without talking about his bat. During his peak years in Cincy, he was swinging a mean bat and playing good D in center. I wonder with the Marlins and their awful hitting, would they take a flier on giving Lorenzen his fair share of ABs at the dish? Wouldn't hurt, right?

And yes, I do realize it's been about 4 years since he's last gotten consistent playing time with the bat.

 

In my honest opinion though, he wasn't really given a fair chance to swing his bat in '20-'21, and he was blocked by Shohei Ohtani in '22. And I would have thought a weak-hitting team like the Tigers who employed someone with a -0.2 WAR and 85 OPS+ 40 year old as their full-time DH would've cut bait with him and given Lorenzen a fair shot at DH, but that hasn't been the case. Makes me wonder if they saw something I haven't and decided not to bother.

These Marlins trade targets articles are as worthless as the Marlins draft target articles. They never happen. Complete waste of time. FoF has good writers, put them to serious work and do some gumshoe reporting - is Jazz really coming back this weekend without rehab? Is X man really coming back too? And when is Eury coming back? Its almost August. Inquiring minds want to know. Stories about Michael Lozenger not so much.
