Eury Pérez will get a real test today. I think he can be effective. Go Fish.

Will be a nail biter. If Eury wins, he will be a hero. If he gets blown out do we still shut him down with that pyschological hit hanging over him? Given the way Skip is talking so favorably about Cueto, I would say its certain he gets Eury's next start after this. Shermy is still Shermy and won't release a player on payroll. Will play him regardless.

I agree we should release Cueto and eat his salary but we will not do that.

It's actually not that straightforward. Cueto makes his next rehab start on Monday. Eury's spot comes up next on Thursday, so the schedules don't line up (and without off days, there's no way for the Marlins to tweak their rotation order).

 

Skip is required to talk optimistically about Cueto as long as he's in the organization. I don't put any stock into those comments. He is not a viable MLB pitcher right now. Unless he shows SOMETHING in his rehab to suggest otherwise, some other Triple-A arm will take those innings instead.
