  1. Can’t disagree. We can write off King’s Monday night outing to the weather, but he has been struggling for awhile. Was only 3 years ago that the Marlins were loaded with LH relievers. Tanner S., Okert, Puk, Nardi etc. Assuming there will be baseball at some point next season, the Marlins could use another QUALITY starter (not another Quantrill or Paddack) and a LH starter wouldn’t hurt, a LH reliever, and a closer, with Fairbanks a F.A. IMO, neither Snelling or T. White will be able to help the Marlins in 2027. It’s gonna take approximately 12 months or so (give or take) for Snelling to come back from his UCL/internal brace surgery. Also, he’s on the 40 man roster, so during a lockout, zero contact with the Marlins medical staff or their facilities. He’ll be on his own. T. White couldn’t make it through 4 innings, prior to his injury. Wasn’t ready before the injury. Don’t see the Marlins shopping for any position players. IMO, they like their internal options ( Alderman, Cannarella, Long etc). Maybe a 3rd baseman but, IMO, they’ll let Sanoja hold down the fort and see how Aiva progresses. We’ll see what happens…..
  2. Unfortunately, the Phillies will win the series 2-1. Luis Arraez will be the series MVP.
  3. Would love to see Deyvison get a shot. If he does get called up, IMO he would/should play regularly and it seems like the Marlins don’t think he’s ready, just yet. Is Deyvison better off playing regularly in Jville or platooning in Miami? Apparently the Marlins think he’s better off playing regularly. He’s still young. Younger than Mack & Caissie. It’s taken Stowers & Conine until their mid to late 20’s ages to get any traction in MLB, so there’s still time for him.
  4. The Marlins win the series 2-1. Griffin Conine will be the series MVP.
  5. The same thing can be said, trading starting pitching the last 2 offseasons. In the 2024-2025 offseason the Marlins trade Jesus Luzardo, then sign Cal Quantrill. This had a serious negative effect on the Marlins playoff chances. The Marlins finished 79-83, missing out on the final playoff spot by 4 games. Luzardo in place of Quantrill yields the Marlins additional wins. In the 2025-2026 offseason, the Marlins traded Edward Cabrera & Ryan Weathers, then sign Chris Paddack. The Cabrera trade got the Marlins an MLB ready player in Owen Caissie & Cabrera is on the I.L. yet again, so that trade hasn’t had a negative effect on the Marlins playoff chances this year. The Weathers trade has had a negative effect on the Marlins playoff chances this year, though Weathers is certainly no Luzardo, due to no MLB ready players coming back to the Marlins. Weathers in place of Paddack yields the Marlins additional wins. Whether the Marlins plan on trading additional starting pitching (Sandy) this coming offseason is unclear.
  6. The Marlins will win the series 2-1. Jakob Marsee will be the series MVP.
  7. The Marlins will win the series 2-1. Griffin Conine will be the series MVP.
  8. “In 1997, Renteria occupied the number 2 hole in the Florida order”. Back in those days, teams would put their on base percentage guys in the first two spots in the lineup, then would have their RBI guys hitting 3-5. Teams don’t do this anymore. Apparently the metrics say ‘don’t do it’. Ah, the good ol’ days…….
  9. Unfortunately, the Braves win the series 2-1. Matt Olson will be the series MVP.
  10. Would be surprised if Otto gets traded. As was mentioned, there is no one in the Marlins system ready to step up play ss on an everyday basis & Aiva & Starlyn won’t be ready until 2028, at the earliest. Last year, Jesus & Fortes were traded with the knowledge that players were ready (Marsee) or nearly ready (Mack) to step in & take their places. Not the case at ss.
  11. Unfortunately, the Marlins will only be able to split the series 2-2. The series MVP will be Sandy Alcantara, who will start Sunday and won’t be traded.
  12. Unfortunately, the Phillies win the series 2-1. Bryson Stott will be the series MVP.
  13. Unfortunately, the Padres win the series 2-1. Jackson Merrill will be the series MVP.
  14. Unfortunately, the Astros win the series 2-1. Yordan Alvarez will be the series MVP.
  15. With Bender, Ekness, Kempner, King, Nardi all on the I.L. & Fairbanks struggling, the bullpen is starting to get a little thin. Marlins could really use Tyler back there. Just sayin….. Also should mention, haven’t heard an update on Michael Petersen.
  16. Unfortunately, the Brewers win the series 2-1. Brice Turang will be the series MVP.
  17. The Marlins draft pick comparison I would make is Khalil Watson. A H.S. shortstop who had a top 5 ranking by some, yet fell to the Marlins as the #16 overall pick. Very similar situation to Lombard. That year, the Marlins had a competitive balance round A pick (#31 overall), which they used on another H.S. player, Joe Mack.
  18. The Marlins will win the series 2-1. Heriberto will be the series MVP.
  19. The Marlins win this series 2-1. Liam Hicks will be the series MVP.
  20. Unfortunately, Sacramento wins the series 2-1. Nick Kurtz will be the series MVP.
  21. The Marlins will win the series 3-1. Xavier Edwards will be the MVP.
  22. Out of this group, would take either southpaw, Aroldis or Ray. Other than John King, no LH starter or reliever (not counting Cade Gibson).
  23. Two ‘if’s’. If the Marlins don’t trade Sandy at the deadline (hopefully they don’t) and if a salary floor is in place next year, the odds of a Sandy extension go way up.
  24. Unfortunately, the Cardinals win the series 2-1. NL ROY & All-Star 2nd base candidate J.J. Wetherholt will be the series MVP.
  25. Hard to imagine a scenario where a Clayton McCollough managed team loses a series to a Skip Schumaker managed team. Marlins win the series 2-1. Xavier Edwards will be the series MVP.
