  1. I hope so too. It would be an easier feat if Luis Arraez got traded back to the AL.
  2. Luis Castillo and Han-Ram do have their place in Marlins' history, but I don't see them having their jersey retired either. Luis Castillo may have a better case since he holds several team records (hits, runs, singles, triples, bases on balls, and stolen bases). He even had a 35-game hitting streak! However, if he hasn't had his jersey number retired by now, then he most likely never will. This article has some solid points as to why we don't have a jersey number retired yet.
  3. That’s sweet. On the bright side, I think Edwards has a chance to lead the league in steals this upcoming season.
  4. I guess Luzardo will be traded even sooner than I anticipated. They have to be seeking at least a couple of bats for him.
  5. I'm sure DLS is in the Marlins' future plans as an everyday player, but I guess is that there's no rush now to use him. I think he'll get called up later in the year.
  6. I can see the case for Miguel Cabrera having his jersey retired, but I just don’t see it happening. The awkward switch from 20 to 24 is a big reason why. Also, he just has more history with the Tigers. He has 8 All-Star appearances, 2 MVP awards, 5 Silver Slugger awards, 4 batting titles, and even the Triple Crown to his name. It’s sad we still don’t have a proper jersey retired, but my pick would be for the greatest Marlin of all time, Giancarlo Stanton. When not injured with the Yankees, he has found a resurgence with them, and he still has a few years left down the road with them. However, he has better numbers with us and will always be known as a Marlins first and foremost.
  7. Fair point! With these prospects you never know how they'll turn out until they actually reach the big leagues. Actually, if you're referring to their 2024 totals, Ramirez had more total bases (232) in 476 at bats than Mack who had 221 total bases in slightly less at bats (472). I'd say that Agustin Ramirez has the edge right now because he has Triple A experience and has more of a minor league resume. With the defense, I agree, it's not even close that Joe Mack is better. Yes, Mack at 21 is a couple of years younger so he still has some more time to prove his worth. If I were the Marlins, I'd utilize Ramirez at 1B or DH any day rather than have him behind the plate. Thomas White is our #1 prospect as we speak. He showed good numbers last season but probably won't reach the majors until 2027 at least. Robby Snelling will probably get a call up to the Fish in late August or early September. My only concern is that his 2023 was great in Single A but then his 2024 was subpar to say the least in Double A. Now he's in Triple A so he could redeem himself and get back into form. If the Marlins are really out of it late in the season, I think Snelling will be on the club regardless. I see the power potential with DLS. He hit 40 homers and drove in 120 runs in total last season in the minors. The 144 strikeouts are concerning. Pretty much, any power hitter has strikeout problems as well. It's a given. I remember learning about "Mike" Stanton in early 2010 and having a good feeling he would get called up at some point that summer and being successful. Well, it happened, and the rest was history. I think DLS will get the callup this season. We got nothing to lose. Miller is promising but needs a couple more seasons at least in the minors. Same can be said for Meyer, who was just drafted last year. So far, I agree that Miller looks more promising.
  8. Well said Ely! The batting order is indeed a Triple A lineup. I don't see how any of these players could be marketed on a commercial, billboard, or even an email. Probably Jesus Sanchez at best due to seniority? Maybe even Nick Fortes as well? Sandy, Luzardo, and Eury are their best bests for marketing proposals next season. In all my seasons of following the Fish, this isn't the first time they've had a triple A lineup, and probably isn't the last either. I expect us to be dead in runs again in the NL. There's a saying that's usually associated with football, but can apply to any sport really, and that's "offense sells tickets/ defense wins games." How can the fan base be excited when our fan favorite players are constantly being replaced by dudes that aren't well known in the MLB? People come to the games because they want to see offense. Sure, it's exciting when a pitcher gets to strike out a threat at the plate when there's 2 men on base late in the game. However, home runs, triples, doubles, stolen bases, runs being driven in, and runs being scored are what people want to see when they come to a major league game. This Marlins team currently just doesn't have players that are known for that. There's a reason why position players are getting all these big contracts. They are more valuable and can affect the game with one swing of the bat. Already, the big question for next offseason is; who will Vlad Jr sign with and for how much?
  9. It wouldn’t surprise me if Jesus Luzardo is currently on the trade block. In that case, it could be Max Meyer’s 2nd chance in the rotation.
  10. I agree, I expect a couple new veteran batters signed by March. Maybe either Bruján or Stowers sneaks into Opening Day roster, but I don’t see both making the cut.
  11. I agree with Fish on the Farm, Ricky DeVito seems to be the most intriguing of their Rule 5 picks.
  12. Cast your votes on the current state of the Marlins
  13. Maybe Peter Bendix turns out to be a genius in a couple years when these trades start paying off in the clubhouse? One can only hope. For now, I'll just treat it as another rebuild for this organization. Barring some sort of miracle, our results for next season will be minimal. I'm actually not surprised anymore, following this trade, if the front office has thought of trading Sandy Alcantara.
  14. That’s a good group of players to keep our eye on. It’s definitely time to focus more on the offensive side of baseball with that first round draft pick.
  15. That’s unfortunate for a team that’s already in rebuild mode (even if ownership doesn’t want to admit it). The best news we could’ve hoped for was at least having a top 3 pick because at this point for the franchise, we can only look forward to the draft.
  16. Wow, this was shocking news to wake up to. It’s safe to say by now that a lot of our main contributors that got us to the postseason last year are now gone. We have officially bucked a trend of getting rid of our HR leaders within the same year (Jake Burger 2024, Jorge Soler 2023, Jesús Aguilar 2022, Adam Duvall 2021, Starlin Castro 2019, JT Realmuto 2018, Giancarlo Stanton 2017) So is our guy at 3B Connor Norby now? We definitely already needed a new middle infielder, but now a corner outfielder may be the bigger priority. A power bat is what’s lacking the most in the lineup.
  17. True, his liability is defense, but now that he’s gone, who will our leader be on offense? The only one I can think of now is Jesus Sanchez.
  18. Of these candidates, Ryan Webb (no pun intended with the former Marlin), would be the wise choice, with the most to offer, but he won't be available when the Marlins pick 7th. Therefore, it makes the most sense for the Marlins to get Bryan Magdaleno. Andrew Nardi is the only lefty I would trust as well from the bullpen. Magdaleno could be a good backup that would get us out of a bases loaded jam late in the game.
  19. It's true. It's no secret he was really good as the 2022 season progressed, but he really started to falter last season. This season he'll have a new pitching coach so hopefully they can work out those control issues. Edward Cabrera improved in August and September (except for that Dodgers game) so hopefully he can ride the momentum coming into 2025.
  20. It's inevitable that he'll get traded sooner rather than later. I believe it'll happen by June or July of next year at latest. The Marlins can only hope that he'll have more quality starts so that they can net some better returns from him. I don't think we should sign him to a contract extension at this point. Last season was our chance, and we didn't pull the trigger. He needs to get back into his 2023 season form, since that's part of the reason how we propelled into the playoffs.
  21. The Marlins and Rockies have the highest odds (22.45%) at winning the #1 overall pick. Hopefully, we get the nod.
  22. Funny enough, this contract alone makes Soto’s net worth more than Bruce Sherman’s. That’s breathtaking. To take it even further, his contract is worth more than LeBron James and Tom Brady’s lifetime earnings!
  23. My predictions with Juan Soto were that he'd sign with the Mets for 15 years and $675 million, so I was only off on the money part. Although I wish the Marlins would spend money on bringing talent to Little Havana, I'm also not too keen on maxing out on one player either (although I'll give Shohei the exception). I didn't think his contract would be surpassed for a while, but it only took a year. It's like going all in on a specific stock, with a high risk/reward ratio. The Mets have a strong lineup, but still need to resign Pete Alonso, and they have questions marks at their rotation and bullpen. He's still in his prime and pretty much has played full seasons the last few years so it'll pay off the most these next few years. I'm sure Soto will be a "Marlin killer" when he plays us by driving in runs and contributing to key moments in the games.
