  1. I haven’t been to a fan fest in years. There’s a small chance I may be able to go at the last minute. Let’s see.

I predict the city connect jerseys will be the Marlins rendition of Vice City. Other teams in South Florida are doing it so it feels like the Marlins are next to buck the trend.

For the one Spring Training game I went to, I got a Chris Coghlan signature. I’ve had lots of success in the past getting autographs after Marlins games. I got lucky once and met Jose Fernandez.

Matt Mervis in the opening day lineup? Things can never be quite that bad.

Connor Morby playing and battinig second? Impossible. You can't plant a sub-.300 OBP guy in that spot. Norby is why you have a number 8 hole. Otto Lopez is the right guy to hit second. He proved that in August and September of last seasoon.

Agree that Conine and Sanchez should never start vs a lefty. Derek Hill and Sanoja are both capable platoon guys.

This team needs to emphasize running and more running.

Well said. Right now, I'd trust Jonah Bride a bit more for that starting first baseman role. Otto Lopez is a better contact hitter to put in the 2 spot. This team is going to hit the least amount of homers so they need to prioritize getting the ball in play in any way and stealing bags.

    My Opening Day lineup prediction:

    SS Xavier Edwards

    2B Otto Lopez

    3B Connor Norby

    DH Jesus Sanchez

    1B Jonah Bride

    LF Kyle Stowers

    CF Dane Myers

    RF Griffin Conine

    C Nick Fortes

When it comes to spending $0 on Free Agency, I saw this coming long ago. I expected them to sign a couple of inconsequential players that do nothing but clog up roster spots. I wasn't expecting literally $0.

I expected them to sign nobodies as well. It’s going to be the same sequence as last season. We’ll probably sign some cheap outfielder at the last minute just how we signed Tim Anderson right before Spring Training.

With all of the moves I believe Sandy is our only player with a multi year contract. If the Marlins are going to win consistently They have to identify the players tey want to be long term Marlins. This roster turnover is not goint to cut it. They need to sign players who they can build around. If not we will just a revolving door of players who will not bring the team any winning results,

True. The rest of our players are on one-year deals. Forget about signing any high profile free agents. I want to see this team invest long-term on some of their promising players.

I should've also noted in here that yesterday was the first anniversary of re-launching this website in partnership with DiamondCentric!

So grateful for the tech support and many new bells and whistles we have. The site was a hot mess when I tried handling all of that stuff myself in 2023 😅

Happy anniversary! The site is great, and everyone does a fantastic job running it.

Just wondering if this is a promotion or downgrade for the announcer. I'm guessing that more people listen to the radio broadcasts than watch on TV. Anyone have the numbers?

This is definitely a promotion for Kyle Sielaff. People get to see him on TV now and not have to wonder who he is. He can basically me more himself on camera. When you see highlights on social media of the game, they always have the TV play-by-play announcer's voice on, not the radio announcers'. Radio announcers tend to be more gung-ho on just the game rather than their personality.

Nowadays, more people watch games on TV than listen to the radio broadcasts. With TV broadcasts, you just get way more bang for your buck from the media, whether that's through pre/post-game interviews, analytics from the previous game or current homestand, and even some quick leaguewide coverage. I will say though that radio broadcasts are more popular in baseball than any other sport due it being pretty descriptive.

I will always remember how my great-uncle used to always watch the Marlins games on mute and have the Spanish radio in his hand while listening to Yiky Quintana. Classic.
