I agree. Time is ticking for Cabrera. He still has the same control issues.

Even though he's struggled a bit, I still see him getting that last rotation spot
-
Interesting how Xzavion Curry went from likely to make the Opening Day roster, to being designated for assignment, to putting up good Spring Training numbers that should get him a roster spot. The back-and-forth movement with a big-league club is all part of the process for young prospects.
-
With Gerrit Cole more than likely getting Tommy John Surgery, you know the odds of Sandy Alcantara being traded to the Yankees have increased.

Only a few names ring a bell to me. The road to the show is indeed difficult and these awards obviously don't guarantee anything. Some of the biggest MLB stars today weren't even that well known as they were grinding their way through the minors.

The offense has definitely started to explode at the cost of the pitching giving up even more runs
-
Another blown lead to the Nats today 🙁
-
His versatility at multiple positions on its own should grant him a spot on the Opening Day roster
-
Liam Hicks in the starting lineup?? Meh. His defense may be good so far, but his bat has been quiet. For now, I still see him as Nick Fortes' backup.
Besides that, the list seems pretty accurate.
Cal Quintrill is a lock for the starting rotation, but I'm not sold on him based on that recent performance. He needs to improve his stuff next start.

I certainly would love to for us to just stick with one closer and keep him for the long hall. For a franchise that's in its 33rd season, it's not really impressive anymore that their all-time saves leader is still Robb Nen with 108. Tanner Scott was good, but we got rid of him very soon so the last great closer we had was AJ Ramos. We've had a revolving door of closers in between and at different points in team history.
I predict Anthony Bender will more of a reliable closer than any of the other option. He has fared well in previous setup man positions. Also, the fact that he's averaging near the upper 90's this spring is a good advantage as well.

Sandy Alcantara definitely won't be the Clayton Kershaw of the Marlins, but I certainly have hope they will invest in one of their current prospects long-term. All it takes is just for them to start with one and then you'll see them give other players extended contracts.
Loan Depot Park won't have a sold-out game until the NHL Winter Classic next January
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Chase 🙏

Glad to see Edward Cabrera hasn't allowed any walks so far. I'm quite impressed.

I feel like he's going to be our best starter this season

What Leo meant was, all the chatter about him eventually getting traded has already begun, which takes away from the excitement of him making this comeback in the first place when it just feels like an audition for his next team.
Gotcha. Yeah, I'm not really too thrilled about his return when I know he'll be gone soon ☹️. I got to take a pic with him at Fan Fest so there's that.

I am glad Sandy looks great however it is difficult for this fan to get excited about this team when the commentators on MLB is talking about Sandy being traded even before Spring training ends. How much disappointed can fans take.
Him getting traded before the end of Spring Training is unrealistic since he only has two starts under his belt. He needs some major league action before teams start taking a look at dialing the Marlins.
-
Well, if Sandy gets traded mid season, he wouldn’t win the award as a Marlin 😔
-
Mervis should be a lock for the starting first baseman role.
I would love to see Mazur get a start this spring. He has potential.
-
Great, I hope to see Max Meyer perform just as well during the regular season

That diving catch by Griff was spectacular. I had my fingers crossed he'd catch that one. When Matt Mervis homered, I couldn't help but think that I should've picked him instead in my prediction on who would hit the first homer for Spring Training.
I hadn't been there since 2012, so I couldn't really remember how pitcher friendly it was but yeah, a few looks-like homers for both squads were kept in the ballpark. Those 21 runs did seem like a lot to me for a spring game.
-
I was there. My takes on the game:
- The bats were awake. The Marlins didn't have any homers yet and they hit three long balls. Seven runs and 10 hits, I won't complain. What I will say is that they had the bases loaded a couple of times, and we failed to make anything out of it on both occasions. We could've added a few extra runs in those situations.
- Edward Cabrera may have thrown mostly strikes, but he did throw a wild pitch that cost us a run. Four hits and three earned runs in just an inning's workload is not a good start for him.
- Nick Fortes with two pickoff throw errors is just not acceptable. In fact, they even happened in the same inning to make matters worse, costing us a run.
- Justin King...well he certainly wasn't the king of the day. I felt like he should've been taking out sooner after those two consecutive walks. Seriously, that half inning felt like an eternity to get over with.
-
That’s shocking. Jessica Blaylock did awesome coverage of the Marlins. I get it though, Scripps Sports is a competitor of FDSN Florida. At this point in the season with the playoffs looming, Blaylock is going to prioritize the Panthers. Since it’s not news reporting for them anymore, FDSN is going to want someone new that can put 100% of their attention on the Marlins. 10 years with the Marlins is an impressive run itself.

I’m looking forward to that FIU and UM baseball game at Loan Depot Park. It’s great for the city and college baseball.

How could MLB The Show screw up Marlins player ratings this badly?

I totally agree with your rankings more so than MLBTS. Alcantara should be ranked higher than Perez no matter what based on experience. I understand a minor dip in their overalls due to them missing time, but the drop is too steep. I would've given Alcantara an 83. Perez at 81 is fine.
