  1. I see most of us, Marlins fans, DESTROYING Sandy for this outing, all over different social media platforms. Saying he's done, he sucks, "Sandy special", we should trade him, etc, etc, etc.

This was, ONCE AGAIN, a McCullough-Moskos terrible call. If you are a manager, you are supposed to know when to pull your pitcher out and have the balls to do so, even if he's freaking Nolan Ryan.

Right out the gate, in the very first inning, Sandy wasn't having it. His CH was up in the zone. The last batter Sandy should have seen yesterday was the HBP in the 6th inning. That was it. Then Otto didn't help, but that was already too late. And then... WHY THE HELL DO YOU LEAVE SANDY vs Jeezy?

My point is, Sandy might not be the same Cy Young guy, but he's still the ace of the rotation, and you all need to chill out. He didn't have his best yesterday and still should have left the game with 3 ER in 5 2/3 and that was absolutely fine. Others are the ones we should blame.

I don't think the the pitching change is puzzling. Meyer gave it away in his post game interview. McCullough had told him earlier this season he would be pulled from games sooner than he would like on a regular basis. Meyer has thrown 121.2 innings in the 2024 & '25 seasons combined. My guess is 5 and dive for Meyer is the rule for Meyer at least until the All Star break. McCullough might have a little wiggle room to send him out for the sixth occasionally, but it looked to me that a 23 pitch 5th inning took a lot out of him.

If he can survive this season, maybe the Front Office will allow him to up his conditioning to go deeper into ball games.

It's a bit disappointing to go into a series against a mediocre ball club with your 3 best starting pitchers and go down 2-1 but this is a ball club in development. in the ebb and flow of a Major League season, there are going to be left handed starters and young right handed starters who will limit the offence. I like Hicks and I believe his breakthrough is genuine, but I would be very surprised if he finishes the season with a .330 average and 30 home runs.

You do not have a ball club committed to winning if you are starting Ruiz against left handed pitching.

I’ll give you that Meyer is probably on an innings limit, and that he is playing the long game for later in the season, but you can tell that the way the bullpen is used is far from optimal.

I don’t think Faucher, Bender, or Nardi are that terrible, but maybe one or two of them could use a trip to Jacksonville to find his old self. If they wanted to win this game, you don’t let Faucher pitch Gilbert, neither Nardi pitch Schmitt. Almost the entire bullpen was available today, except for Phillips.
But hey, they know better than us, right?

  3. Faucher and Bender have been terrible. Eury probably needs a demotion to find his old self.

Bring up Garrett, Kempner, and White. Give Petersen more chances in high-leverage situations. Send down Eury, Bender, and Faucher.

I would love to call Ekness but he is not in the 40-man and I think it’s too early to give up on anyone on the roster.

Snelling deserves his shot, but I think he has to get the call when a long-term situation arises (injury, DFA). Don’t call him for 2-3 starts and then send him back down.

It’s still early. Hopefully the lineup gets better when Stowers joins the team.
