We learned on Monday that the Arizona Fall League season will begin on October 3 with Miami Marlins prospects being assigned to the Glendale Desert Dogs. The identities of those prospects haven't been announced yet, but Fish On First is hard at work gathering that information.

FOF farm director Alex Carver already has confirmed two of them. The full Marlins delegation is expected to include seven or eight players. Keep in mind, the group is subject to change in the event of injuries that may occur down the stretch of the minor league season.

As the details trickle out, I will fill this page with quick hits on each participant, listed in order of how I personally rank them as prospects.

INF Aiva Arquette

Current MiLB level: Double-A

It's a rare treat to see a consensus Top 100 MLB prospect like Aiva Arquette in the AFL (he ranks sixth on the FOF Top 30). The main reason he will be playing in the desert, like most of his teammates, is to make up for games spent on the injured list during the regular season. He enters Tuesday with only 49 games played in 2026 due to two separate IL stints.

The former first-round pick has a .257/.311/.476 slash line with 11 home runs and 14 stolen bases with High-A Beloit and Double-A Pensacola. He's mainly been used at shortstop with a handful of appearances at both second base and third base.

Arquette will turn 23 in October, making him about one year older than the average AFL batter has been in recent seasons. It's a low-pressure environment, but he'll be expected to perform well.

LHP Emmett Olson

Current MiLB level: High-A

Emmett Olson has logged just 10 innings since returning to the mound following Tommy John surgery. Across parts of four MiLB seasons (all in the Marlins organization), the lefty has a 3.62 ERA in 35 games (33 starts) with solid peripherals.

Olson will likely be a member of Glendale's rotation, making one start per week.
