If Brant Brown was a good hitting coach for us we should have given him a contract with security so we wouldn't lose him. I hope we do something to lock up Skip so he isn't gone or we save a few dollars and the minute he is free to go he is gone.

The reality is Peter Bendix has no connection to the current coaching staff. Even if he receives positive feedback on them from others in the organization, it just isn't a high priority for him to invest in their futures when he barely knows them.

I thought Brown was a great signing last season, but the Marlins still ranked in the bottom half in many offensive categories. The team showed some improvement, though.

 

As a coach or manager, continuity is very important and he should have continued with the team. Now just promote the batting coach from the Jumbo Shrimp.

The Jumbo Shrimp coach is another former Marlins player, Greg Colbrunn. He didn't get much attention this past season (can't remember Troy or Edwards giving him any credit for their success). Maybe he gets considered, but might depend on what sort of personal history he has with Skip.
