I bet most of the FoF staff is pretty hangover today... and that is absolutely fine. You all deserve it.

I want to say thanks to this entire group, always behind the curtains showing passion and commitment for this team. It is not easy to be a Marlins fan, but you guys make things a bit easier.

Now, back to biz. Obviously Hoeing is the starter for today, but I would have called Weathers/Lindgren/De Jesús/Simpson to "eat" a couple of innings today, sending down Soriano for basically one day since teams need to reset the roster for the postseason.

Maybe a little reward for Simpson? He didn't allow a single Earned Run in any of his last 7 outings (the last ER allowed dates back on 08/20), would be just cool to have him pitch an inning today.

The bullpen has been heavily used this week and Scott, Robertson, Chargois, and Okert have pitched in the last 2 games. Puk pitched 2 innings last night. Nardi has pitched in 3 of the last 4 games. That leaves you only with Hoeing, Moore, and Brazoban for the game today.

Maybe Cueto and Soriano can pitch one inning each, but still, I would keep my bullpen as fresh as possible, even more so with Moore not pitching in the postseason.

Lastly, the rotation for the postseason. I know Zeus is the "ace" right now but again, I insist rest is super important. I'd start with Garrett, then Zeus, and Eddy last. I don't want to think about a 4th starter just yet, but if things go well, Cueto won't be needed a lot.

Thoughts?

As you've seen by now, it'll be Luzardo in Game 1 and that's what I would have done as well. The schedule has him making that start on regular rest. Other young pitchers benefit from extra time between starts, but that hasn't really been the case for him.

Very similar overall seasons for him and Garrett. It's still clear that Luzardo has the superior upside. I want him to be in a position to pitch as many times as possible over the course of the postseason.
