Irresponsible to a "certain" degree? Unfortunately, it was more than that and the blame can be placed in several places and much concerns areas other than our young phenom. Garcia is a cancer and his being added to the team, and hitting in critical spots in the lineup, is also irresponsible in my opinion. Waiting too long to make trading moves was more than unfortunate. There were potential moves considered that would even have precluded a return of Eury this soon. This team needed a starting pitcher, and whereas Weathers could become a good long-term acquisition, he is far from the answer to a critical need.

 

Next I have an opinion held by few others. I think that Soler is misplaced in the #2 spot in the lineup. Arraez is having a phenomenal year yet ranks 61st in the league in runs scored. Soler himself is having a good year with many HRs, yet he ranks 26th in the league in RBIs. There is no player in the league below him with so few RBIs with so many HRs. If I am correct, then Skip's lineup considerations must be under question. Need I again site Garcia? This is particularly true when Soler is in one of his many funks and another player would be a far better choice. Most recent case in point is Berti.

 

Last year the Marlins were a 4th place team. Now they seem to be ensconced in 3rd place and that does show improvement. We will probably have to be content with that improvement. But questions remain. Of major importance will Arraez be given a much-needed long term contract? Soler will undoubtedly look for a new contract and will either consideration be addressed under this owner.
