David Samson has been illuminating in his revelation that managers, at least the kind without a lot of power, do very little on their own and take most of their directions from the front office. Even down to when to remove pitchers and the lineups. It's funny, but we're still off operating off an old paradigm that the managers actually make up their lineups. And managers get the criticism for those lineups when they don't perform. The reality is change the manager but the lineup would stay the same.
