Thursday's Games

- Thursday's Marlins MiLB notes: Sean Reynolds and Dane Myers both received promotions to Jacksonville. Reynolds had 16 scoreless relief appearances in his last 17 games for the Blue Wahoos. Enmanuel De Jesús, Archie Bradley and Anthony Maldonado combined for seven consecutive strikeouts to finish off a Jumbo Shrimp win. Griffin Conine (Pensacola) had his first multi-home run game of the season. The Marlins' rookie ball affiliates combined to allow 37 runs in their three contests.
- Perhaps related to the Myers news, the Marlins traded minor league infielder Joe Rizzo to the Tigers for cash considerations. The 25-year-old had a lifetime 99 wRC+ in MiLB when he signed with the Fish as a free agent, but he was only at a 61 wRC+ in 182 plate appearances between Pensacola and Jacksonville. He didn't have a path to being a major league contributor for the Marlins in 2023 and they didn't have club control of him beyond this season, so understandable move.
- Elsewhere around the majors, for the first time in Mets history, they have lost three consecutive games in which they've led by three-plus runs. Moreover, it's likely MLB home run leader Pete Alonso (left wrist) will land on the injured list. José Ramírez homered three times in a Guardians victory which dropped the Red Sox below the .500 mark for the first time since April. Cody Clemens delivered a walk-off single for the Phillies, who have won five in a row.

- The Marlins have a 43.1% chance to win their series opener against the White Sox, per FanGraphs. Triple-A Jacksonville (7:05 p.m. ET), Double-A Pensacola (7:35 p.m. ET), Low-A Jupiter (12:00 p.m. ET) and DSL Miami (11:00 a.m. ET) are at home, while High-A Beloit (7:35 p.m. ET), FCL Marlins (12:00 p.m. ET) and DSL Marlins (11:00 a.m. ET) are on the road. Trevor Rogers is making what will presumably be his final rehab start for Jacksonville. Next step is either reinstating and recalling him or optioning him.
