"When you're in the 11th round and beyond, you're kinda looking for some carry traits," Marlins director of amateur scouting Frankie Piliere said about Faherty on July 16 immediately following the draft. "Maybe somebody's a late-bloomer or maybe somebody is a buy-low type of candidate. This is the one that I think we were high-fiving the most when he came back around...Just an exciting arm talent that we think we can turn a couple dials and make into a really impactful pitcher."

Faherty signed for a $200k bonus.
