A publicity grab by the team to counter the Ng canning. Expectations will be limited, seeing how the team didn't even bother filling the position last season. No shoes to fill.

Fully agree. The losing record as a minor league manager is all you need to know. Skips replacement in 2025 once his contract is up. That will really impress the libs at Shermans country club

Really still can't get behind this organization anymore. Like this hiring shows that Bruce is willing to have women work for him in a baseball capacity, but the departure of Ng tells the story like he isn't willing to work *with* women.

Player development is really the area this organization needs to find success to find results especially without money to pay players. Or rather, without money paid to players.

 

Really just seems like Bruce is keen to the leadership efficiency of women, in that generally they have much more experience and capability than their male counterparts. With Ng we saw a real tendency to work with what she had, I bet Balkovec will be very similar in that regard.

 

The other end of that spectrum is like Denbo, who will only work with his own ****. Or from a GM, A.J. Preller who also has to have control of everything.

 

No wonder this organization has had a hard time developing hitters. They need to be able to perform in situations outside of their control.

 

Feels like Arraez won't get an extension solely on the basis of how he hits. He quickly gets to a pitch and makes something of it. Definitely not the approach with the best metrics, just a high success rate at the plate. Constantly making an impact on the front line.

 

Just not the philosophy of Sherman's Marlins.
