"The Marlins 40-man roster temporarily sits at 33 players as we wait for players to be activated from the 60-day IL and the option decisions for Josh Bell (player option), Johnny Cueto (club option) and Matt Barnes (club option)."

Make that 30 players. There's zero shot Josh Bell is going to stay with the Marlins, especially not after the production he had with us. And the club isn't going to waste any money on what is essentially a washed up Johnny Cueto and a guy that had nearly the entire season yanked from him due to injury.

I hope we can draft better players and develop them instead of depending on the free agent market which is a crap shoot at best. I look at Baltimore who drafted smartly and now has a competitive major league club and a great minor league system. So as much as I wish Ng had stayed I hope the new front office hires know how to asses young talent and build a competitive team with smart draft picks.

Honestly, I think Sherman did the right thing by not keeping Kim Ng. Sure, it sucks that she leaves after she built a winner in spite of D.J. Svihlik's terrible draft choices, but she really wanted D.J. Svihlik here. Really though, D.J. Svihlik needed to go. I'm not sure I would've been a Marlins fan anymore if he had kept on being the man that decided Miami's future with his draft choices for another 5 or so years.
