I'm starting to have my doubts on the 2020 draft class.

This was the draft class they needed to hit big on, and so far, the Marlins whiffed on each and every player.

I'm not going to rule out any unbelievable comeback stories from these players, but so far, the returns do not look pretty. They traded 2 of the draft pieces for... pretty inconsequential players, and the rest of the players are either garbage, or injury prone. (or both)

I thought 2019's draft was bad, but this one is just as egregious. It's one thing to pass 40-something big league players with more talent than JJ Bleday, but it's another to draft 6 pitchers out of 6 and not have a single one of them come close to sniffing the big leagues. This honestly reminds me of the time the LA Angels drafted all 20 pitchers. The only difference is, the Angels really BADLY needed pitching, and we didn't. (and even then, think about how that's worked out for the Angels lately. Not good.)

I dont understand the philosophy here. Maybe there wasn't any philosophy. This was the Jeter-led era, after all. That said, there needs to be a scapegoat for this type of failure, and D.J. Svihlik, it's time for you to be placed on the chopping block.

2024 will be a critical year for evaluating the class, with Meyer and Eder fully turning the page on their surgeries. At this point, I'm probably higher than the consensus on Meyer. Still believe he can have a substantial career as a starter.

I see Meyer as a high leverage bullpen piece at best, personally. But I guess you could do worse. Edward Cabrera isn't developing, and Trevor Rogers might be turning out to be a one-year wonder.

Maybe Jake Eder might be something. But I don't have high hopes for this class. Especially with pitchers who immediately get injured after coming off a lengthy injury stint.
