  1. I'm not sure we know how to evaluate 2023 AAA numbers yet. I know offense across the league was way up in large part to ABS but I haven't seen anyone try to adjust the numbers yet (but it might be out there).
  2. Put up some decent numbers in Double A but it's always hard to get a read on what to expect from a guy when a significant portion of his perceived value came from raking in the PCL.

  4. The Milwaukee Brewers stunned their fans on Thursday evening by trading away ace pitcher Corbin Burnes for an MLB-ready shortstop and pitcher. This puts the organization at a crossroads: they traded away their best pitcher whose contract expires at the end of the season and brought back a young shortstop who needs time at the major league level. Willy Adames's contract also expires after this season and with the Brewers seemingly pushing toward a youth movement, may now be willing to listen to offers on the 28-year-old shortstop. In the mix is Tyler Black, another MLB-ready prospect in the Brewers system who will likely take reps at third base in 2024. Is this the perfect opportunity for the Marlins to shore up their needs in the middle infield?

  6. I'm always pulling for the player in arbitration so okay, I guess.
  7. 100% my thinking on Tim Anderson. He has pretty good rebound chances due to what you mentioned while the downside is very minimal.
  8. But even with a healthy Mondesi, what can you realistically expect from him? I'm no fan of Andrus, especially at this point in his career, but it feels like Mondesi only compounds the Marlins' offensive woes. If they pick him up as a roving backup, that's fine... but as the primary shortstop, that's probably going to lead to some pretty ugly results.
  9. Jon Heyman tweeted today that the Marlins are still in pursuit of a starting shortstop in 2024 and are kicking the tires on Adalberto Mondesi. Mondesi, now 28 years old, last played with the Kansas City Royals in 2022. Once a highly-regarded top 50 prospect, Mondesi's bat never materialized against MLB pitchers, leading to a career OPS+ of 82. Mondesi joined the Red Sox in 2023 but suffered an ACL injury and did not play during the regular season. The free agent shortstop market is very thin this offseason but with names like Tim Anderson and Elvis Andrus still available, one hoped to see the Marlins reaching a few rungs higher on the ladder than Mondesi.

  11. Welcome to the site! What you see there is called a favicon and the red logo is an error we're trying to sort out. The correct icon should be the teal and red FoF logo.
  12. Oh, I quite like that blue uni.
  13. I don't know, I have some questions about Adames' bat as he ages. His last couple of seasons feel like the start of a decline. The glove is still very good but given how many years he will be looking for, not a guy I'd pursue that vigorously.
  14. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald mentioned in a piece today that the Marlins are looking into the free agent shortstop market. Admittedly, this is the thinnest market in years with almost all the remaining players looking for one- or two-year contracts. Included in this group is Tim Anderson, Brandon Crawford, and Amed Rosario. Tim Anderson is perhaps the most intriguing name on the market, as the former White Sox shortstop had a terrible 2023 (60 OPS+) after posting a 122 OPS+ over the previous four seasons. Anderson is entering his age-31 season in 2024. Amed Rosario is in a similar situation to Anderson. After posting a 103 OPS+ over the 2021-2022 seasons with Cleveland, Rosario slid backward with the bat in 2023, posting an 89 OPS+ in split duties between the Guardians and Dodgers. Rosario could very well be looking for a one-year pillow contract, as 2024 is only his age-28 season. View full rumor

  16. I really want to see Mancini do well, hope he's able to bounce back after his disastrous stint with the Cubs.
  17. A raw deal for Sheffield. He never should have gotten to this point and should have been elected years ago.

  19. I think the scope of the trade is too big for both sides.
  20. I *think* the Marlins say no to this but getting both Brooks Lee (probably a top 25 global prospect in AAA) and Walker Jenkins (likely a top 10 global prospect but far from MLB) is quite a show-stopper. https://twinsdaily.com/blogs/entry/23761-who-says-no-miami-marlins-edition/
