Tracking 2024-25 Miami Marlins fall/winter ball players

Next season is truly the year to let the kids attempt to fill the voids. Lots of outfield candidates (Dane, Sanoja, Mesa, Stowers, etc.) and Agustin Ramirez will get a chance to catch (despite my doubts about his defense).

They'll sign one veteran free agent bat whose market craters. Can't possibly do worse than Tim Anderson.

Another option is first base. The Marlins need a first sacker who can catch the short hops and prevent infield errors. Imagine how much stronger Edwards' numbers at short would look if not for the egregious misplays by Burger and Bride. First basemen like Freeman, Goldschmidt,, Guerrero, etc. make those catches routinely.

I agree on both points, especially the first base one.

Some of Norby's issues are potentially solvable with experience. If there isn't meaningful improvement early next season, then I'd begin the transition to LF. Ironically, De Los Santos got so much praise for his bat this year when it's actually his 1B defense that will more reliably translate to the majors. He'll be an upgrade there over Burger and Bride.
