Marlins Video
Bending the What a Relief rules, Noah Berger interviews Marlins "hybrid" right-hander Bryan Hoeing. Hoeing reflects on his lifelong love of baseball, the impact of pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr. and catcher Nick Fortes, his improvement from 2022 to 2023, adapting to the pitch clock and more.

Although 21 of Hoeing's first 25 MLB appearances have come out of the bullpen, he is temporarily filling a starting rotation spot for the Marlins. Hoeing went four scoreless innings against the Blue Jays on Monday with a career-high five strikeouts.
Since returning to the majors on April 25, Miami has used Hoeing in a wide variety of situations. He has been the only Marlin to pitch on four consecutive days (May 24-27).

Hoeing will make his next start on Saturday against the Pirates.
