"In the ninth inning, the Orioles went with their second All-Star reliever (and former Marlins prospect) Felix Bautista to close it out."

Lol. I said this before, and I'll say it again. You could create a 26-man roster with former Marlin players or former Marlin prospects that did nothing with the team, and go on to become All-Stars or World Series champions on another team.

Sandy's quality start was just OK. Three runs in the first four innings is below what we expect from Sandy. The Marlins gave away the first run with a poor throw by Stallings on a steel attempt. We loaded the bases and came away with one run. We get within one run and give up a two run home run in the bottom of the eighth. We have to play better to beat this team. I hope we play better in the next two games.

I give some of the blame for Sandy's performance to Stallings. I hate to pile on a guy who is not hitting but if you can't hit or call pitches, your worth as a catcher has to be questioned. My issue is the home runs Sandy gave up. That's more of an issue of pitch selection, which is done by the catcher, not the pitcher. I know this is sacrilege, but what if we had Fortes catch a Sandy start and see what happens. As a Cy Young winner, he was due deference at the start of the season, but now that we are in contention, deference cannot mean losing games.
