The Dodgers briefly made things interesting in the sixth inning, but went just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position overall. On the American League side, the Yankees won their series opener, taking advantage of five wild pitches by the Guardians. Giancarlo Stanton's 439-foot home run was the 13th of his postseason career. Minimum 100 plate appearances, the only players in MLB history with a higher career postseason slugging percentage than Stanton are Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Randy Arozarena.
