Garrett Cooper speaks to the media at LoanDepot Park after finding out he's been traded to the San Diego Padres. Prior to Tuesday's trade deadline, the Miami Marlins sent Cooper, pitching prospect Sean Reynolds and cash to San Diego for left-hander Ryan Weathers.
An NL All-Star selection in 2022, Cooper was the longest-tenured player on the Marlins active roster, arriving from the New York Yankees in a November 2017 deal. He'll be eligible for free agency this offseason.
Wishing all the best to Coop in San Diego!
Will the Marlins finish with a better record in 2026 than they did in 2025?
